Only the BEST in 1990s technology for me, sir
My first tank came with some super cheapo CF lights. I would sit them on the glass tops of the tank! Ha!

Let’s all find a photo.

Since we're taking a trip down memory lane here is a picture of my first skimmer. It had to be one of the first models that Reef Octopus made.

This isn't my picture but I could take a picture of mine since it's in my garage still. I actually was using it on my current tank until about 2 years ago.

I must've been, since I also had 2 seaclones. I'm almost ashamed to admit one of them is still on my qt tank.
Haha!! No shame!!!

Bought a bunch of live rocks from someone closing their tank .
they were covered in purple mushrooms and gsp

a short time after I bought a bunch of frags .
bubble coral , torch , trumpets , which they did not last long at all .
I’ve tried trumpets and torch a few times over the years with no success

they are just that coral I don’t have any luck with .

the purple mushrooms , to eradicate 50% of them I had totes filled with freshwater to get rid of some .

My first skimmer was a coral life 125 hob

I think we all had that same power compact light!! Sitting on a glass top , standard 10 or 20 gallon . First coral was from another reefer I think it was a mushroom , gsp and like previously stated yellow polyps . Would always target feed them to show people look they close and eat this!! I remember years later getting my first led the eco exotic led it had like 12 cords coming out of like 3 power supply's lol.

Still not sure what it’s called but this one is the first we bought that our clowns have claimed. Started out maybe 1” or so tall with 2 little tiny arms and is now this giant. Have had it almost a year now. Our first coral was a free single green fuzzy metallic mushroom head which is now out of control and almost upto 20 heads

I bought three corals first: xenia, a watermelon mushroom (discosoma), and a platygyra maze brain.

I had the platygyra for over two years and it grew to the size of half of a softball. Eventually though poor water conditions due to lazy reefer syndrome caused it to deteriorate and my bicolor blenny picked at it to death.

The watermelon mushrooms spread like crazy for a while, then got outcompeted by my hairy mushrooms. I actually think there are a couple still hiding in the rockwork clinging to life, they just can't get to the light.

The xenia I ended up ripping off the rockwork as it overtook and killed off my stylophora. I have no doubt though there is still some lurking in my tank somewhere.

Mine was definitely an illegally obtained (whilst living in the middle east) a basketball size brain coral from the red sea that I had no business in keeping 4 months into the hobby back in 2009. It did however survive about 2 years before the tank was shut down.
