I used to... but then it drove everyone away pretty much because of my incessant babbling either about the tank or the antics of my friend who happens to be a gull. The only two people who still pretend to care about both are my mother and girlfriend. Though, to be perfectly fair, I'm on thin ice with both of them - I can just see the complete lack of interest coupled with gruesome annoyance in their eyes...
It's for the best though, my fish don't like new faces anyway.
Fascinating question. My answer after thinking about it is completely the opposite of what I thought my initial reaction would be.
I would have expected my reaction to be "Love showing off", but I'm (very much) surprising myself by putting myself in the "I don't want to show others - its for my enjoyment" category
I've come across from freshwater, and the differences to the uninitiated are something along the lines of "OK, so now there's some salt in the water - apart from that, its all the same right?"
The challenge - and the payoff - of this hobby couldnt be more different, so I just smiled to myself and let them look at the fish....
Right up until the time one said 'I wish those silly fish would move out of the way so I can see the seahorses' The fish were my beautiful pair of Regal angelfish and the sea horses were a couple of pipefish put in to eat acro bugs
the younger guests love looking at nemo ( or both nemo's ) and the parents say..'oh look kids..finding nemo'. and most spend a lot of time looking at the various corals/fish and of course the corals. I love that they love my aquarium
Here in the UK we are hoping to have a 3 family bubble over xmas...but after 8 mn I'm not convinced we will have many in...just immediate family.
Not having people over this year. But when I show pictures or videos, people really seem to like it. There are so many odd and interesting things that these creatures do , or just how they look that I find most people enjoy it. Just don’t start talking too technical. You’ll lose the interest of people real quick!
My brother will be our only guest this year. Last time he saw the tank was helping me load it into the pickup when I bought it from another reefer. I think he will be impressed with how far its come! Mostly because he had to lift all of it lol!
