Simple old school Mercury thermometer suction cupped to inside right corner of tank. The first thing I look at every time I walk into the sitting room. Simple but essential piece of kit as I dont use probes. Use hanna sg/temp tester with weekly water change but with changeable Irish weather a quick readout for hands on mixed reef keepers like myself is in my opinion invaluable. I know eyebrows get raised about having a potential Mercury leak into the DT but proper care when cleaning it and changing it for a new one every couple years for me is enough.

130 gallon tank is over 15 years old...that is why it lives in the garage now. I hope it doesn't happen but dont want a leak in the house. Yes, one day we will get a new tank for the house.

Still have my first swing-arm hydrometer from my first SW tank circa 1982.

And although it reads about 4 points off, it hasn't deviated at all over the last 15 years (I verify the device's reading at the LFS once a year).

Its me... have been at this hobby for more than 39 years and without me who would do all the water changes, feedings and spend all this money on coral/fish......

I have replaced a good amount of the gear on this tank so maybe 3 years old

A used 125 Marineland tank I have for a sump and a Aquaclear 110 HOB that came with it that I use on my QT. Both well over 10 years old.

Longevity of reefing equipment is a good thing of course and we should celebrate those pumps, lights and gear that has stood the test of salty time! So let's do it today and talk about the aquarium equipment that keeps on keeping on!

What's the OLDEST piece of equipment you have running on your tank and how old is it?

The oldest piece of equipment on my tank are my hydra 26's (x3). I know eventually I will need to upgrade.

I have a BuildMyLED 14,000K fixture which is 7 years old.

Some of my light timers may be older, as well as a few mixing pumps.

I replaced my Tank Boss ATO last year. I've had that since the early 2000's. I've only had to replace the float a couple of times.

I have the Phosban 150 (the original pump died long ago) and Aquaeuro chiller I purchased with my first saltwater set up back in 2008 running on my current tank. Only parts I've replaced are the o-ring on the reactor and temperature sensor on the chiller.
