What's the single most expensive coral you've ever bought?

What single coral?
What price?

For me, I bought a Sunburst anemone for $200. In all my years, I don't think I've spent more than $200 on a single coral

i cant think

I bought a joker torch for £99 a head (£180.00/$268.19), biggest mistake I’ve ever done, it died a few months later with no explanation - Every other coral was fine and so were the parameters

RRC Shazam. Paid $150 cad for it. Kinda lost my head a bit. Other than that one I haven’t spent more than $60.

I’m a new reefer so forgive my ignorance on names, but I have a white bubble tip anemone with purple tips on all the tentacles, he was $50 and is so far my most expensive coral.

He’s got his spot picked out inside the cave I made with my rocks and driftwood, and it only took him about a day to find it and he’s been there for almost a month.

~$250 USD on an Australian Golden Torch (single head)...I think the conversion went something like this:

"shut up and take my money...its beautiful..."
There might have some drool as well, I dont recall.

I'm going the frugal route, trying not to spend more than $100 for any coral.
So far I think this is my most expensive purchase, and it isn't even here yet lol arrives later today.
However, my LFS has a beautiful blue chalice, would tell you the name but my LFS guy doesn't even bother getting the names when he buys, but anyway it's been in his shop for two weeks and I am waiting to see if he drops the price, it's $120 and I'm starting to lose my self control. I want it lol

BTW, I wouldn't buy a torch at any price, I have had nothing but bad luck with them... but that was many years ago.

Mine was the first torch I've tried and it died, so I'm a little nervous to try another. I know I
wont be buying another until I can find a really cheap one. Ironically I have several hammers that are doing wonderful in my tank and I believe the care requirements are about the same.

I wanted to laugh and cry react at this. Lol
One thing I've learned in my years in this hobby is that there is a chance that anything you buy will die. That is why I try not to spend more than about $100 on any single coral. I'd be disgusted to buy a $1,000 SPS just to have it RTN a few days later.
