Not trying to brag here or be criticized either it’s my money I’ll do what I want with it. $1800 on this rainbows splice. And it’s doing amazing since I received it had 4 new growth nods about 1/2 inch in about 5-6 months. Don’t be scared buy that coral you really want and take good care of it and you will be rewarded :)

This is my most expensive coral that I have bought. It’s a grail type torch that I could t pass up 550$ shipped which I felt was a pretty fair price compared to other grail type torches I have I seen

That’s definitely an insane piece! Candy Corals in Toronto has 3 of those straight from RR for sale and it’s hard to look away ;)
Is the red sticking around or is the green taking over?

Hmmm I'd say probably 56 bucks for a single frag (multiple heads of grim reaper zoa) I can't think of anything that tops that...... wait I didn't spend 50 or 60 on a rainbow millie that died to aefw sad face

Beautiful coral. Maybe I'll eventually get to where I trust myself with an $1,800 coral, but it won't be anytime soon.

The red is definitly sticking around and in about the same % as I got it. Which makes me super happy. Two of the four new growths are spiraled red and green from tip to base. Kind of why I paid so much for that piece because of the extensive red marbling I wanted to ensure that it was going to stick around. Now I’m seeing a whole lot of just green splice out there for sale and it’s pretty much blah to me

160$ - “rasta” hammer. it actually died due to being stung by another coral… i noticed the damage too late and couldn’t heal it. would love to rebuy it, but i’m unsure if i can justify paying that much again.

Fantastic! Yes, the spiralling really sets your piece apart from the rest. Spectacular.

I think it was $400 for me. It was a crazy plate coral!

I have paid $1,000 for a single frag more times than the wife will ever know, although those are investments. I live in an area and have a profession where I am able to generate money from any high end coral frags that originate from my frag tank. The most I have spent on showpiece corals that aren’t for propagation i.e. Scoly’s and Trachy’s is about $600 on stunning rainbow varieties.

Both Rainbow Splice And some other coral. Bought the 1st rainbow but did not have red in it. So 6 month later bought another Rainbow Splice from another vendor. It had red in it. WS going to let them grow together but the first started splitting and getting red in it. I am moving in December from this 145 gallon to a 280 gallon. This will be a crazy move and keeping all my pieces. Fingers crossed and a lot if research on the move. Debating doing a YouTube and reef2reef on the tank move. The Rainbow splice are in the middle of tank in front of Lakers scroll.

My most expensive so far has been a 3 head NY Knicks torch at $100/head. I've spent some dumb money on zoas too, but not that much for a single frag... yet. :D

Here’s my question:
What defines a frag from a colony? My LFS had a 4-5” tall Staghorn and called it a frag, to me that’s a small colony
