Today Ryan addresses the challenges of reef tank size and shape using his very own mock-up of the BRS360.

We finally get a perspective look at what Ryan's tank is going to look like in his home!! Then join us afterwards for our talk with WWC Co-founder Victor and how the WWC team addresses tank size and shape. :)

@randyBRS @Ryanbrs didn't see it mentioned in your video but if Ryan did want to go with the 42" stand for viewing from the main room he could always build a platform and raise the floor height in the nook area for your desk. Gives you the best of both worlds and it looks like your ceiling height would handle the step up in behind the tank. :)

12 to 24 ft long , 4 ft wide, 30 to 36 inch deep. Island tank with plumbing running under the concrete floor to a seperate building that is approximately 6ft lower, into the ground. Use solar tubes to supplement lighting for both the main tank and the refugeum, *** tanks ect. This would be a 6 to 8 thousand gallon system.

L shaped one side against the wall the other side peninsula.120" both sides x 48" wide x 30" tall. 1500ish gallons, tank only, plumbed into a fish room with all sumps, tanks, and equipment.
Might as well dream big!

duel display tanks tied into 1 system with grow out in fish room... 240-320 gallon reef, 320+ FOWLR. Both systems flow into 1 sump with a 40 breeder macro algae show fuge, 80 gallon frag grow out system. The wife and I are currently house hunting and this build is in mind.

I love the idea of the two systems supplementing each other heavier nutrients provided by a FOWLR, but extra rock work for the added filtration. My wife and I love some of the bigger fish that only a FOWLR could handle. Bigger angels, puffer, large tangs.

the frag set up to hopefully make the hobby self sufficient (will never recoup the cost but might make enough in trades to keep me in salt and electricity)

I guess I my dreams are "manageable"

I want a 30 x 24 x (18-24) next, I don't dream of anything larger because I know how much more work goes into a larger tank (unless I have auto water changes setup).

Dream tank is my 100.3 for a reef. I don’t like larger reef tanks, make me too anxious to maintain them. I rather visit them in public aquariums.

I have two miracles custom tanks ~ 120 and 180 that I run FW because I don’t want a reef that size and I don’t want any tank bigger than 6ft. Even if I won one I would sell it or give away. I feel like a bad American not saying bigger is better!

I would probably do a 120" x 36"x24" max.
Any bigger than that and it costs too much to maintain, stock, and equip. Even that size can break the bank if you're not careful. Plus, you really need to consider the work required to set it up and keep it running and make sure you're really settled into your current home and not planning on going anywhere for quite some time, because it will be equally difficult to take it all down.

I'm realistic. 42 x 32 x 22 peninsula would be ideal, but that's juust a touch too big to have on the third floor of a building.

I currently have a 120g (48x24x24) reef. I have been dreaming about setting up a FOWLR that would tie into the reef. I want to get big angels and a 96x30x30 would be really nice.

I have a 185gl Acrylic after breaking down a 120gl. I would love to be able to something in the 750gl or bigger range.

Sold my 8' 240 and went with a reefer 750xxl 6' 160 just like in the brs videos. Going on two years and perfectly happy with that size and all the maintenance I want, ha.
