Hello all,

I was sold 5 of these guys as Nassarius snails and I have two of them in my coral/invert QT to clean up after my NPS but I watched one of them climb up my tubastraea and literally rip the food from its mouth. I have had smaller Nassarius snails in this tank before I transferred them to my display and they never did this.

Did I just end up with some overly aggressive Nassarius Snails or did I get dooped (again) and end up with 5 whelks?

I know the whelks typically have tattooed snorkels, but I wasn’t sure if the markings on these guys qualify.

Thank you so much!

I believe they aren’t whelk snails.

ive seen nassarius attempt to steal food from corals, but never one do it successfully.
This one actually succeeded, I was very surprised. I know the ones in the past have touched the tentacles of my NPS with their snorkels and that was quite enough for them.

Very weird that these guys literally had no issue climbing up on them and stealing their food.

Apparently you have very aggressive nassarius snails
Ahaha, just my luck.

I guess I’ll just have to distract them on the other side of the tank or my NPS are just going to have to learn to eat faster ;Wacky
yup those look like tonga nassrius to me
Well, good deal. Cheers to not having another problem to deal with, haha
