I have a very established aquarium the unfortunately crashed while I was on vacation. I arrived home today and most of the coral look terrible. All the fish and inverter seem to be okay. I just mixed some new saltwater using aquavitro salinity salt. How long do I need to wait before I can safely use the new saltwater? Usually I wait 24 hours but this is an emergency

How much are you changing?
Was it an outage?
What was the water temperature?
Can you test for ammonia?

It's a 20g I'll be changing around 5 gallons. It does appear to have been caused by a power outage. The water is back at around 79 now

If you have a small powerhead mixing it continuously, I would think an hour would be fine.

Hand stirring the recommendation is 6 hours, but if you are in an emergency situation, (fish getting lethargic, gasping, etc...) I would use it sooner.

If thoroughly mixed, right temperature and salinity the water it should be fine to change the 5 now.

I would not disturb anything in this change to keep the stress down. Just siphon off the five gallons quietly and replace with the fresh mix.

If lucky was just a minor event that self corrects and you dodged a bullet.
