Ok, these API kits kill me... it’s definitely over 1.0... can’t tell if it’s quite 2.0 or a little over

I just ordered a Hanna Checker but now somethings up with my leopard wrasse and I’m guessing it’s a bad bacterial infection. Any Second thoughts?

Have you tried a freshwater dip? I’d start there see if they dislodge...

Ok I just did a FW dip and nothing came off, but what really concerns me is the top of his head it’s like something is eating away at the flesh
Time for NFG (nitrofuracin green). If you use kanaplex, metroplex, and furan 2 until it arrives that will work as well, but NFG is best.

How long did you treat with the kanaplex, furan-2, and metroplex? If that didn’t work, I agree NFG is probably the best antibiotic to try next.

If you can’t get NFG quickly, you can dose Furan-2 and either Sulfaplex or Triple Sulfa together for a comparable effect. But, I wouldn’t wait too long to start...

Sounds like secondary infection with the velvet...

Do you have acriflavine? Ruby reef rally or API fungus cure? Can do a bath in a 5-gallon bucket to try to slow the infection down.

And, I wouldn’t discontinue the kanaplex... I’d actually add metroplex and furan-2 in. Dose every 48 hours, preferably after a 25% water change. With the copper struggling to stay at therapeutic, maybe try to do the water change every other dose.

You’ll want to add the copper and test the bucket before adding it to the QT, to make sure he new water is not going to lower the level in the tank, even for a few minutes.

Can you post another picture of your copper test? Is it definitely at 2.0?
I always enjoy reading your responses. Seem very well educated in the treatment of fish when they're not well. +1 @ngoodermuth

I have only dosed Kanaplex and right know I’m on my second treatment
I will try to get my hands on NFG. Where is the best place to find it?
Thanks

Ok, I don’t think kanaplex alone is cutting it.

You can get NFG from National Fish Pharma, but you might need to get something a bit more quickly.

Most box stores carry API products, Triple Sulfa and Furan-2 might be your best bet. You can use both together, but I’d do a pretty decent-sized water change before you start. The kanaplex probably won’t hurt, but I like to have less “mixing” if it’s not needed.

Hi.

I would do a 30% water change to lower the copper therapeutic level to 1.91

You ideally want to be between 1.75 and 2.0 and closely monitor the fish. Make sure you’re also aerating the water.

As far as the “white spots” not going away. Give it time. These spots are “exit wounds” and will heal in 3-5 days. The priority for now in my eyes would be to lower copper below 2.0 with a 30% water change and ensure your fish are maintaining their appetite and monitor for negative physical and behavior symptoms which can be caused by raising copper levels too quickly.

Updated pictures? I just went back and looked at the first photo and not 100% convinced it’s velvet. Maybe brook?

I would bring that level down under 2.5... 2.0 preferably.
