Sometimes an unexpected expense can’t even be covered by an emergency fund. And what if you get hit back to back? And the thing not covered by his warranty is something - that if he had time and wasn’t getting leaving for vacation - he would have thrown down about! Darn dealership said “we can’t find any problems now you must pay us” I call BS!

Anywho…. Sometimes the surplus is t enough and things get sticky!
I'm also calling BS. Wife just sent me a video of her backing out of the driveway with the car screaching. First day driving it after leaving it with them a week to reproduce the problem!!

So let's say you have an unexpected expense like a car repair that doesn't get covered by your warranty. Next imagine that you don't already have accounted for by great financial planning and you have to cut from your reefing budget. What is first to get the axe for you? Lighting upgrades? Controller upgrades? Pumps? New fish/corals/nems/macros/etc? Cleanup crew refresh? Water changes (HA!)? Other parts of the system? Interested to see where other reefers land. I'm still internally debating mine, but I think it would be controller, followed by corals/nems/macros (not fish), followed by lighting or pumps, followed by--if I'm cutting this far, things'is pretty bad!
clean up crews ,corals , and new fish

Oh well, I'm 5,440 miles away right now, so not much I can do!

I hate dealerships for this reason. At my shop I can't tell you how many times a week people come in and say "the dealership said i need brakes right now can you look at it?" We look at it and the brakes have over half life left in them. And don't get me started on fluid flushes! :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:

Go on? No really, for someone who has no idea, are we getting completely scammed?
I said don't get me started! Lol
Yes, most often then not, fluid flushes are not needed. Flushes are where the dealerships make alot of their money and the technicians and advisors get a spiff (bonus) per flush job sold so they push them really hard. Don't get me wrong, sometimes fluid flushes are necessary. But I've had customers come in with vehicles with only 20,000 miles on them and they say the dealership said I need a transmission flush, coolant flush, brake flush, and my tires are bald. We look at the fluid and they're clean and full and the tires are still good. After 20,000 miles, unless you've accidentally out the wrong fluid in the wrong reservoir, no you don't need flushes lol

You need to change you headlight fluid……

So I guess I’m lucky the dealership I take my car to does me right. The one I was going to first wasn’t though.
