If you are worried about an Angel nipping at corals have you thought about a Starcki Damsel? Looks a lot like a Dwarf Angel but without the coral nipping. Kinda pricey for a damsel though. Maybe worth checking out.
If I do an angel... It will be a captive bred coral beauty... I figure that gives me the best luck.... Photos or link on that fish though?

Here’s a picture. It really does look a lot like an Angel. I’d like to have one myself but I’m maxed out on my bioload right now.

Valentine puffer are great but can definitely decimate your crustacean population!

Bangaii cardinals are not too bad
Marine betta?

On wrasse yellow looks great and eats pests
Flasher wrasse stick to open water they don’t eat pods

Ember blenny is a fun option too

Im putting in a valentini puffer in her tank as theres no coral in there at the moment.

We have 2 bengai Kaudern? cardinals now.

Yellow or Melanarius im trying to get for sure, as they are great pest cleanup.

Flasher isnt a bad idea. i just need her to see one she cant pass up. Would an ember blenny get along with a bi color?

If you go flasher you really need 2, each of different species, so that they flash but don't overly fight. My ember is pretty chill but he's the only one laying claim to the rockwork in the tank.

If you go with a flame angel, keep them well fed. I made the mistake of trying to modify my feeding schedule and the flame immediately pecked at coral and became a bully when food got scarce.

Drop the wife and get a wrasse! Lol!
Or get a wrasse and say its a clownfish.
Best yet. Get a dwarf lionfish and panther grouper for your reef!
On a serious note i like soldierfish or squirrel fish.

Heres a thought i had. tell me what you think.

3 zebra barred dartfish
3 court jester gobies
hawkfish.

The court jesters is where im torn. DO i do this, or something else. I dont want a daily hider, but something that i can admire daily.

I take it you didn't drop the wife...

In my opinion a wrasse is a must.
Utilitarian fish are key.
Ive got my fox, and blenny, urchin, and army of snails. SO that bit is covered. I might be able to squeeze in an yellow wrasse ,melanarius is also one of my favorites. However one i could have, is a leopard, but i just dont trust myself i guess.

There’s various leopard wrasses you could add! They’re one of my favorite types of wrasses. You could also try a few different dwarf angels. Flame Angel and Venustus Angel are two good options. I have kept both without any nipping issues

Tank isnt too new? 4 months now... i would figure a leopard would need more established system. ALso whats the best success rate with them? Grab one out of LA DIvers den that has been conditioned to foods? Also i think any dwarf angel is out, as i plan to have clams.

Yeah I don’t have experience with dwarf angels and clams together so I don’t wanna say anything on that. Honestly with Leopard Wrasses I would much rather buy one at an LFS because shipping can cause them to not eat. I wouldn’t be concerned with a normal leopard wrasse but once you move to Potters and some of the more exotic ones shipping can be an issue
