Good Afternoon Reefers,

I recently built a co2 degassing tower for my RO/DI system because I have high co2 well water. I am trying to determine what the best airstone is to use for this application. I have heard good things about limewood or basswood and ime the Lee's 3" wooden air diffusers I have tried work best. Having said that, I do not want to have to monitor the airstone constantly for mold or clogged pores or anything like that and am not sure of a wooden stones longevity. I have also heard that limewood/basswood ones work better in saltwater but I am aerating RO.

I believe I read one time that spectrapure recommended limewood or ceramic. What about glass? Does anyone have experience with this? Also, do you have a brand/website recommendation for your preference?

Thanks!

Most any fine ceramic stone will work for you.
I would go ceramic as it is not an organic material.

Honestly , when I did research on airstone powered skimmers, lime wood was at the top of the list for volume of bubbles. Any of the very very good airstone were only available on other parts of the world especially Europe. We don't take airstones seriously anymore it seems.

But you'll want to kinda estimate volume of ai to you are using to the side of the stone.
Hagen marina and aquatic ecosystems and eheim are the brands still in my bookmarks.

Ending up going with Pentair Aquatic Ecosystems Sweetwater. Check out this beaut, by far the nicest airstones/diffusers I've ever seen.
