I just noticed this white stuff that looks like spider webs growing on my rock. It was dead rock but I have live sand. The tank is a month old just cycled. I added fish about a week ago. Is it algae? I also saw posts on sponges and thought that might be it. Thanks!

Looks like part of a sponge. My wrasses make cocoons to sleep in at night and sometimes I think they’re spider webs. Any wrasses in your tank?

That’s funny! No, no wrasses. So if it’s a sponge it should be ok to stay correct as long as it doesn’t get out of control? Thank you!

You can suction it out if you don’t want it in there. Sponges are welcomed by some; myself included. :)
