Hello all,

New to the site but not to reefing! I had this weird flat dots appear all over my tank and they are not going away. They are soft, not hard or anything and seem to be like little disks. Any idea what it might be?

Thanks!

Those are foraminaiferans - often called forams. They're actually a macroscopic type of single-celled organism - kinda like a giant amoeba with a shell.

Forams are totally harmless. Some species are photosynthetic due to symbiotic algae, but they also eat detritus and nano-plankton. They can't hurt anything of any size in the tank.
