Hello,

Please see the picture below. This has been progressing slowly over the past 2-3 months. At first I thought it was just part of the clownfish color but now it seems like it is spreading to other fins and possibly causing the fin to begin to tear. I think it is a fungal infection since it seems to spread evenly, cant see much of anything else on the clowns skin surface.

The fish is acting normal and parameters are all steady.

NO3=20-40ppm depending on when I do water change
PO4= <.1 (tough to say with salifert but it is def closer to clear then having a blue tint)
Salt= 1.026
KH= is 8-9.5 range

Any help is appreciated and I can provide more info if needed

Could you try to get a closer shot?
Looks normal to me. Anything like fin rot would have been a lot faster to my knowledge.
Any tearing I’d bet is because of other fish in the tank.

Picture is distant but may be viral condition known as lymphocystis
Often it’s triggered by poor water quality and/or diet and can be dissolved with simple maintenance and improvement in diet
What gods are you feeding?
Age of tank?
What is your ammonia and nitrate levels?
What test kits are you using?

That looks pretty normal to me. External fungal infections are almost unheard of in marine fishes. It could be bacterial, but I just don't see it.

Does the fish show any other symptoms?

Jay

Thanks for the quick replies, I can try for a closer picture.

Tank is almost 9 months old (1.5 weeks away) and I feed sanfranciso bay brine shrimp and then the emerald mix from the same company.

I use salifert test kits for but dont test for ammonia, nitrates are always between 20-40 ppm.

No other symptoms, fish acts normal.

How was your fish at the end of the day? My two clowns both have a clear/white edge around their fins and tail

Nothing really ever came up of it. The fish is still alive. I am guess it was just coloration that happened to pop up once it settled into its new home.
