My Duncan was one of my first corals when I got my tank wet back in May and has been going along nicely ever since. Every now and then it seems to keep a bit more closed up, but then comes back nicely.

It’s in one of those cycles at the moment, so I was able to see the ‘stems’ of the coral better and can see this white, fibrous looking growth on two of them. It reminds me of a spider nest or cocoon.

One of them has what looks like a snails feeder tube, but it doesn’t look like any snail that I’ve seen.

Any suggestions on what it could be?

They are sponges and should pose no problem to your Duncan, plus they are filter feeders and reef safe!

Great, thanks for that...a relief. All these things that we find in our tanks...way cool (said by someone who hasn’t had any bad things so far!!! Touch wood)
