Does anybody know what would have caused this to explode in my tank? I started running bio pellets 3 months ago and have been having great success. Nitrates and phosphates way down and all my sps growing again. I left town last week and came back to the skimmer all the pumps and power heads caked in this white buggery looking slime. I have cleaned all the equipment but there must be something causing it because the socks are clogging up every day. Skimmer is pulling out tons of really nasty stuff but it keeps coming. This is the best pic I could get. If you look close you can see a clump of this nasty stuff in the center of the pellets, Help please.

Bacterial bloom. Bacterial colony. You may need to increase the flow of the reactor or reduce the number of pellets.
Bio pellets feed bacteria.

What would cause it to go nuts like this after so long ? I figured it was a bacterial thing just wasn’t sure why it would happen out of nowhere like this?

Only bad things happen overnight?

Did you change foods or use an additive?

Did the flow in the reactor slow down? Not sure how you’d check that.

The reactor was WAY slower when I got home from vacation but that’s because it was clogged up with the slime .

I had tried a bottle of ph buffer the week before I left but other than that there wasn’t been anything new in a while? Guess I will never know
;)

I cleaned the pump a couple days ago and I still seam to have a lot of this bacteria. Is there something I should do? My socks are clogging every day at this point?
