noticed a bunch of white spots on a blue hippo I have in qt with a powder blue and naso tang.

they were all doing okay until I dosed prazipro. Especially the blue hippo. It reacted the worst to the treatment. It is now covered in white spots, cloudy eyes and is breathing rapidly. 48 hours after the dose.

I have done 2 50% water changes since the initial dosing. And have began to dose copper power in hopes of killing this if it is velvet.

please help as I do not want to lose this fish or the others in the qt with it!!

If you feel you need more info please ask

based on the size of the dots, its ich and thumbprints on naso suggest likely also infected. You wil have to treat both in a separate quarantine setting using coppersafe or copper power at therapuetic level 2.25-2.5 monitored by a reliable test kit such as Hanna brand (No Api) for a full 30 days at 80 degrees.
As I generally do, I suggest adding an air stone for added aeration and water movement during treatment.
Display tank which fish are in should remain fishless (Fallow) for 45-60 days to allow parasites to go through their life cycle without a host and die off

Thank you vette!!

I guess its a bit of a relief ? I think velvet is worse than ich if I understand correctly.

So this is a QT tank, I am assuming I can just go ahead and treat them all in here?

Powder blue Tang
Blue Hippo
Blonde Naso

20 Gallon tank

stock corner filtration that came with the tank, plus a 40 gallon marineland HOB filter, with a 80 gallon airstone.

Yes and monitor water quality (mainly ammonia levels during treatment)

thanks a million!

No copper tester yet (ordered hanna HR, arrives tomorrow) but I will dose 1 ML every few hours until it arrives to start acclimating the fish to copper.

If my math is correct to in order to get the 2.25 I would need about 21 ML of copper power for a volume of 16 gallons of water (give or take)

1.33ml per gallon = 2.25ppm

Once the test kit arrives I can fine tune the level to reach the 2.25
