Hi, I recently noticed my white tailed bristletooth tang has a weird mark on him. Any idea what it is? Do I need to panic? He has been in my display for about a week. Could it be an anemone sting? see attached for the pic, it is right on his chin. Sorry for the bad pic but they are so fast. Thanks for your help!!

I initially thought injury, but the ring around the lesion is something I’ve not seen before. Did the fish go through any quarantine?

Could have scratched himself, gotten stung, a bunch of things. No way to tell for sure in those pictures, but keep an eye on it. What are you treating the ich with?

Either :
Bacterial
Bite mark or Sting

Tell Jay and myself about water quality-

Temperature?
Salinity?
PH?
Ammonia level?
Nitrate Level?

If water is good (and must be good), you can use for healing:
Myacin
Melafix ** - safest and easiest to acquire
Ruby Rally Reef

Here is a better pic, my water quality is good. This was a LA divers den fish. I know I should quarantine but I just am unable to. Parameters are very stable, temp is 77, salinity is 1.025, ph is 8.1, no ammonia and not real traceable nitrate. I’ll have to take out my low range test but the level is safe for fish.
I’m not really testing for ich aside from feeding well. In the past it usually just goes away and doesn’t get much of a hold (knock on wood). See the better pic attached. Thanks!

That halo is a real puzzle. Not much you can really do though without moving it to a QT. Reef Safe meds typically have no better success than doing nothing and just see if the fish gets better on its own.
