I know we go a bit overboard with ocean and sea shore related decorations around our house. But then we live in SW Florida. We're not far from some amazing beaches and only a 5 hour drive from the incredible Florida Keys. So we have all kinds of aquarium, ocean and sea shore related decorations all over the house. Here are just a few. And I'll post more later if this develops any interest.

Lets start with the wall in our master bath.

And then there is the shower curtain in the guest bathroom.

How about sea shore related? This is a painting my wife did of the beach at Bahia Honda State Park (before Hurricane Irma). These trees that were at the far northeast end of the island are gone now. BTW, the painting hangs in our bedroom.

And here is a cabinet and shelving unit full of shells and sand samples we've collected over the years. These are in Elaine's studio (a spare bedroom). BTW, she painted the lion and folded the blue & green origami ball. And the walls are painted coral (seen here) and Key Lime green on the opposite wall. Kind of reminds us of Key West color palette on so many old houses there.

So what's in your house? Aquarium related, ocean related or sea shore related! I'd love to see pics and read about them. I have lots more I can share. A couple of them are even quite unusual!

I wanted to do my bathroom like that. Fossil tile floor, blue walls with fish, that didn't happen....but I do have a small shadow box of shells from Marco Island. I have a lot of rocks/shells, etc. some has been stored since we did some rework of room priorities. I do have a nice display of Venice Beach shark teeth.

I'll post some pics later.

The fossil tile floor idea caught my attention. I did the shower in our master bath to look like you were scuba diving. Darker water below and lighter water above and a dark wavy floor!

The tile store even had a 2'x2' shark mosaic I wanted to put in the back wall of the shower. But it was crazy expensive and my wife said "no!"

Very cool, I will have to snag a picture of our Great Barrier reef photo taken by a local photographer. Very nice decor.

You've opened a can of worms for me! My wife is the consummate shopper....she shops almost every day! Whenever she sees anything fish related, she buys it. We have 100's of things fish related. Here's a small sampling:

Wine stopper

Plate / cup holder for when you have that cookout:

And not just one....many:

Lighter / Fire Stick:

Hats....here's one:

And Koi Crocs - That I'm wearing right now:

I could go on for pages, but I'll stop for now.

That's what I was planning....the dark depths for the floor and a bright ceiling.

At the time our local Home Depot had black marble tiles....with a CORAL FOSSIL...it was a display tile which caught my eye. I should have pawed through the boxes for more, but I did find another travertine fossil tile I used in a counter top.

We have ocean themed artwork all over the house. My Wife really loves Jim Warren, and we have 2 personalized artist proof prints in our home. Our downstairs bathroom is completely ocean themed, and the hall bathroom upstairs is seashell themed. And we live in Missouri! Talk about ate up. I guess you can take the sailor away from the sea, but you can't take the sea away from the sailor.

Here's my Venice Beach shark tooth collection, the large ones in the center are about an inch long.
venice teeth.JPG

Marco Island shells and a local article of me fishing Lake Champlain.
Marco shells.JPG

The kitchen back splash I did with travertine and fish fossil tiles...note the mermaid bottle opener....I actually staged the fish mugs for the shot;).
backspash.JPG

This next was a compromise. I had two signed Ed Newbold prints, one of whales and one of sockeye salmon, in the center was a signed Russ Smiley fish print that my Dad gave me as a college graduation present.

My wife likes mirrors...fish not so much. She bought the Normal Rockwell fisherman print for me....after a pretty serious disagreement while we were dating. The Russ Smiley print is on the floor next to the reef awaiting for me to paint the walls above the staircase.

@fish farmer , that's some very cool stuff! I love the frame around the tank.

That's how I felt. I lived 7 summers on the north shore of Lake Erie when I was growing up and I always loved being around the water. So at age 50 I moved to Florida... best move I ever made!

Do all the test kits and towels count? No? Yea my wife said the same thing...

Sure they count! ;Hilarious;Hilarious;Hilarious

Mirrors? how about this? My wife made this many years ago before we ever met.

And this is the widow treatment in our master bath.

My wife is becoming a pretty good painter. She started a couple of years before she retired. She started doing a lot of landscapes with some water feature, then sea shores and now birds. Along the way she has done a turtle here and there.

@Useful_Idiot , that reminds me of the huge wooden fish they have at the Aquarium Encounters in Marathon, FL. I'd love to have one of these hanging from the peak of the cathedral ceiling in our living room!

My wife says, "Thank you." She's very humble about her painting ability. But in January she is entering a couple in a show where they will get judged. And showing a few more that will be for sale. I have my fingers crossed. Up till now she hasn't entered any contests or even tried to sell anything. Here are a couple of her latest works.

Omg you guys are decked out!! All I have as far as decoration is this painting I did back in high school lol. 8879A333-5456-404D-933B-9C953D10476D.jpeg

That's a good start. My wifes first few painting from just a 3 years ago looked a lot like that. But 2 years of instruction at our local art league and 2 or 3 dozen paintings, and now 6 of them hang on the walls in our house... and I'm quite proud of her work.

Have a few random things......

20191207_060420.jpg 20191207_060432.jpg 20191207_060449.jpg 20191207_060510.jpg

Those are all cool, but I really love that 2nd one. That is a painting, right? It's scary cool!

@Paul B , you do such incredible sculptures! Personally I love steampunk style art and your fish are very cool (just like some of your other works). We have an artist, Howard Solomon, here in SW Florida that does a lot of similar work. I'd love to buy something but like you, his work is pricey! But it deserves to be as it's really great work!

Ron, Thanks, but your wife is a Michaelangelo. I love her work.

I paint, but I am lousy at it. I wish I was better.
I admire people who can paint well.

Atoll, I think those first fish have ich. But I like them. :)
