Who has the biggest Homophyllia Bowerbanki?

Not you, but Chris from ACI Aquaculture does! WOW! I was informed that this particular coral is 23”x 15”

Also if you want to see it in person you can see it at ReefAPalooza Orlando at the ACI booth!

How big is your largest coral or coral colony and what type is it? (leave a photo in the thread)

Awesome!!! ACI gets in some amazing corals. I remember them getting a huge bleeding apple bowerbanki a few years back as well.

Wow! imagine the freight on that piece alone...

I used to have some nice colonies nothing crazy 4-6" or so, but they all melted years ago. Looking at this guy makes me want to get some new ones.

My largest coral at this point is a neon green toadstool which is about 17" or so. Soft corals like this are pretty easy to grow large. LPS are a whole different animal!

I wish I could get mine that big. When they get to be about 6" or sometimes less they frag themselves. I'm pretty sure I've had some spawn too as I found a few that were only a couple of polyps.

    IMG_1842.JPG

I've got about 30 toadstools maybe more spread out through my tanks. All started from a tiny tiny frag + the dozens I've sold / given away.

Besides space the limiting factor for my softies is they get so big they can't support their own weight. I have a cabbage coral that grew down a rock then ripped itself off the rock because it was leaning down, my giant green leather that I never figured out if it's nepthia or sinularia also has pulled itself out of the rock work and needed to be cut. Then there is my gorgonian, which if I had another spot for it I'd move lower in the tank. If I turn off the flow and pull on it, it will stick out a good 3" from the water. Wavemaker pushes it out of the water all the time but it doesn't seem to mind, but it can't get any taller in it's current spot.

    fts.jpg

tank is 60" across. Individual pictures don't really show the scale well.

This was my largest ~10 years ago in my old 265g It was pushing 24" before I smashed it up to spread around the local reef club when I sold my old house.

The poll is largest coral. Not largest bowerbanki.

Thought it was a bit smaller but it measure 12" on the button tip to tip. Wife broke a branch off the back of it a few months back. It also has a bunch of shrooms growing on the back side that bug it but it keeps on truckin.

I’ve had this monti for about 8 years now. It’s been cut hundreds of times and is still about 20” x 12”

This is it sitting in the frag tank. It’s almost that time to move it to a new home
