Looking to buy a standard 65 gallon 36x18x24 aquarium and stand. All the major brands like Aqueon have terrible reviews as far as leaks go. I really do not want to drop $1500 plus $500 shipping for custom....

I never had a issue with Aqueon and I run pretty many right now of them and have run allot in the past.
I probably have drilled over a 100 of them.
Marineland is the only manufacturer I have had issues with and the only one I have seen allot of others with issues with.

Glasscages comes up a lot as well in discussion.

Otherwise, if you are willing to go into the $1500 range for a PNP system, there's options like SCA and RedSea. That price range includes tank, stand, sump, skimmer type combos. The SCA I know is free shipping. Been very happy with my SCA tank so far.

Go get a 40 breeder on 1$/gal day. Those aquariums are fine. The only problems I have ever heard of are people letting them sit dry for too long. Then the seal will give out. But that’s anything hung that uses silicone to seal.

Never had a problem with my 65 gallon Aqueon

Just because it isn’t a name brand doesn’t mean it’s bad. I’ve seen more bad reviews for Red Seas than anything else.

Well keep in mind the more expensive aquariums are using better materials. Thicker glass, better seals, etc. SCA is probably the best option between quality and price.

Looks like aqueon has good reviews here. It was all the negative reviews on petco's site that really concerned me. As far as red sea, water box, etc. (I have owned both and currently have an IM 50) they do not make tanks 18" wide in the 50 to 70 gallon range. The space I am setting up needs 18" wide tank. Maybe ill give aqueon a shot... What about a stand?

I run an Aqueon 125 with an Aqueon 40 breeder for a sump. Had them both abouth 8 years. Before that, I ran an All-Glass (All-glass is now Aqueon) 90 gallon for about 8 years, and it was very used when I bought it.

Just inspect it at the store, and leak test it in the garage.

For a stand, I like to build mine. Mostly because the off-the-shelf stands are way too short.

40b aren't included in $1/G sales in my area. They stop them at 29. Still only $49 +tax with the rewards sign up.

40b are like 1/2 off during the 1$ per gallon sale.
It is because of the thickness of glass.
After 55 gallon there is another jump in price in aquariums because again there is a jump in glass prices.

As far as off the shelf stands there aint much worth anything and not much to choose from..
Marineland are garbage but work.
Aqueon are ok stands but really generic and basic. I agree with above, they are short too.
