I think this would be a good thread to start to see what coral will kill what coral, when they are touching. Who wins & looses? It helped me a great deal for placement of corals.

I have found:
-Mushrooms & brains are the worst to have anything near it .
-The other day, I had a wellsophyllia near a Lobophyllia & the Wells was winning! (At least that's where I thought the sweepers were coming from.) --My Dendro tried to eat a mushroom & it's dead now. :(

Well, this is a start--I've got lots more to add but have to go to work.

I think it'll be more helpful under Other Reef Discussion thread so we can talk about all corals.. :)

My Green Bali Slimmer will kill any sps it touches.
My millies also kill other sps, but my green slimmer wins over my millies.

My frilly shroom was killing my acan, so I moved it under my devil's hand. It had sweepers imbedded into the leather that night. Moved it next to a colony of zoas. They are both touching & no damage... or is that a yet??

When a shroom starts walking it kills everything in its path. Had a mushroom take out GSP, daisy polyps, zoas and some blastos.

My lobo and favia were knocked into one another overnight by a member of my clean up crew and though both had battle scars afterward, the favia looked the worst.

I had a Echinata fall onto a Challice and simply dissolved the Challice. With next to no damage on the Acan.

I have had some mean green zoos and a Hydnophora going at it like WWI. Meaning they are at a complete stand still. I've read were Hydnophora are very aggressive and pack a huge punch. Everyday after the zoos are covered by the hydros sweepers its back and fully opened.

I read the same thing about hydnophora. But I have a green mouthed torch that has one tenticle that will touch my hydno. Wherever the torch touched the hydno it kills a small place. I was shocked

I also have a purple echinata that is growing into some zoas that are on the rock - It looks like the acan is going to grow around the zoas. It is very weird. I keep waiting to look into the tank and find the zoas eaten but not yet!

Very cool thread idea!!

people with sps tank will sometimes use zoas to block diff sps from touching eachother. Very often the sps will stop at the zoas ot go around them. Must be palytoxin or something excreted

I use my large green bubble tip anemone to keep some yellow polyps from running across my tank. They have covered the top and the back side of a large rock but they cannot move forward anymore thanks to my bubble. It has also stopped some zoas on the other side.

I had a really nice orange tipped torch but that sucker was viscious. I couldn't put anything within six inches of it on all sides or it would reach out and touch and kill. It was a beautiful coral but too nasty in my small tank.

I think you are right. I'll get a pic the next time the zoa hydro battle starts. It's hard to believe with out seeing it how covered the zoas get and survive.
