Hey Reef2Reefers!!! I think FOWLRs are highly underrated! I'd love to see some of your fish-only tanks! Show 'em off!!
Here’s my Cade 1800 FOFN (fish only for now) tank. It’s almost 1 month post cycle; just starting the fish stocking.

I’m going to be setting up a FOWLR tank next summer. Two summers ago I broke my ankle and lost my reef tank because of it. It was a bad break and I wasn’t allowed to do much. My husband refused to help with tank maintenance and I lost all my corals, my Tiger pistol shrimp, most of my fish and all but one of my hermit crabs. I spent almost a year trying to get my water chemistry sorted out. Talk about a roller coaster ride! A few months ago I lost my last Yellow Tang. So I finally gave up trying to save the reef. I moved my remaining 4 fish and my last hermit crab into my quarantine tank. I’m moving in the spring so they’re going to stay there while I get my big tank set up at the new house then they’ll be the first residents in a FOWLR set up.

Does not having corals raise your phosphate levels?

Maybe a little, my comment was too joke that PO4 doesnt really matter in FO. However, I am now actively trying to get it low to remove all the algae you see ;)

That why I was asking. I had a FOWLR tank but was constantly battling algae no matter what I did. I want to start up a new AIO tank without the algae mess this time.

I’m loving this thread. Have a 125 g reef and about to add a 65g FOWLR and a 50 g lowboy frag tank to my system. Looking forward to being able to buy some of the beautiful fish that aren’t reef compatible

I have a reef tank with good filtration via sump but I have a fowlr set up at my in laws with a canister filter(chemipure blue, purigen and phosguard/phosban) and obviously I’m not able to monitor it very closely so what are some HARDY fowlr fish For their tank??

what about adding a HOB ATS? or DIY a canister style ATS. I think that would help out.

Here's my 90 fowler. I have a hawkfish, bird wrasse, heniochus and foxface right now. I plan to add a white tail bristletooth tang and a starry blenny. Would love a female wantanabei angelfish too.
