Ive been able to for about a year now successful grow color up most across. I've had minimal losses and I don't know why... maybe Coral chemical warfare or some sort of pest or infection, but overall most seem fine. They are a finicky coral for sure. I've had tenuis, stag, millepora and some random other species grow and maintain color, polyp extension and growth, but there is one stubborn one.

It's a solar flare mille and only has encrusted a little bit. No signs of stress or pests. I just find it weird that the others will grow and not this one?
I have a lot of acros with great color and polyp extension. Jf solar flare mili was one that just didn’t do well for me either. It was a huge frag and survived a year. I think it just never looked good and I ended up throwing it in the trash one day. It’s really millis that don’t do well for me. All my parameters are excellent and stable, except phosphate is always elevated.

Could it be the vendor and not the millis? I've used 8 vendors for this build and time after time seems only 3 of them provide proven winners that explode on arrival. I haven't lost much from the others but their product just takes longer or stays dormant for a while. I think more than parameters it's the stuff we can't see and test for that makes the transfer successful or not.

What lights are you running? Everything looks great. How is the flow on it? Mine has quite a bit and loves it. Not direct but in a high flow area
Radions and t5 gets a lot of light. Good probably have more flow but it's attached to the rock

I'm also a firm believer that not all cuts are created equal. After a lackluster performance in the last BC grow out contest I ran a small experiment. I cut five chunks off a caddy colony and 5 chunks off a tort. They all got placed on the same rack for 2 months. 6 of the 10 have fully encrusted the plug and show signs of lateral growth. 1 has slightly encrusted while 3 sit dormant. I guess what I'm trying to say is buying fresh cuts even from a great vendor is a bad idea. Especially if it's a contest type format.

Colors a d growth are pretty good. I'm going through a lot of all so I do have some swings. Maybe that's why

Ditto for me - most SPS grew like crazy for me but yes, I had 4+ "high-end" frags that didn't even grow for 3 years! No clue why - same tank, same param, etc. I've tried pretty much everything as suggested. They didn't change after the relocation within the tank either. So -- I've just learn to accept it. If someone has a proven method, do share!

I paid huge Money for a few high end frags hoping to get a return selling their frags. All of them died without growing an inch. including a very expensive rainbow splice. All the 5$ corals I have are now gigantic and I just got 700$ in store credit to my local fish store by selling them a bunch of huge frags from those 5$ corals. High end sps is the biggest scam and regret I have in this hobby.

Yah I don't pay those absurd prices. I've made more selling cheap stuff

Cheap stuff goes fast and if it’s a nice color the LFS will buy it up

And just to chime in…

1) your tank looks awesome

2) I think what your experiencing is completely normal and just happens for some reason

And during that same time frame, this guy didn’t grow any vertical height, just encrusted the ground a little A purple bonsai. Super common and should be fast grower

And this guy didn’t grow or encrust or do anything at all

That thing is neat, looks like a fat bonsai, what is it?
I never knew. This is from a prior tank. I got it as a maricultured colony. It had great color, polyps out every day, just never grew for me. Had it over a year but then lost most of the tank due to 6 day power outage
