Woke up this morning and my green carpet anemone looks like this! it looks like it’s splitting but I’m not sure. The orange in the middle is food but if it wasn’t there you can the rock behind it. Help me I’m worried !!

Invertebrates do weird things. It looks healthy. Look up how anemones feed and reproduce. How long have you had it?

Carpets don’t split. It kinda looks like a hairy mushroom (which do split like that)…. Are you sure it’s a haddoni? As it doesn’t really look like one from those pics.

Hello Traylor.
Seems like you have some experience. Do you think this is normal for my green carpet anemone to do ?

Ok, that looks like a haddoni. It’s not great when it does that. Sometimes it can look like that when expelling waste, so if it’s only like that for a few hours I wouldn’t worry. If it stays like that or starts to look worse it would be best to follow the cipro treatment protocol in the sticky on this forum.

Hmm… it definitely looks better. The way the mouth is gaping isn’t a ‘healthy’ look. I’d watch it for another 12-24 hours and if it doesn’t close up it’s mouth, then I would put it in a hospital tank and follow the cipro protocol.
