I have a 8 year old JBJ 28 nano cube seen it’s ups and downs once was full of SPS at about the 2 year mark to being inundated with bryopsis at 4year mark and a lost battle on top of that the LED hood died almost 450 to fix (replace) ran with a cheep led light to keep the clowns and anemone alive. Son rescued tank and JBJ came out with new WiFi led hood at 6 year mark now it’s a Zoe and LSP growing machine looks great. The JBJ refired the spark in me and I started a mixed reef Aquamaxx 22 gallon book shelve tank last Dec 5th at almost the one year is looking pretty good with only a bit of GHA on the lower rocks. Hopefully last hurtle as I have a very fat lawnmower blenny and well feed CuC.

My 4 gallon pico in my office at home. I would like to have one at work but I do a hybrid schedule and am not in the office daily to look after it. This 4 gallon is easy to maintain with a carpet nem, a pair of sexy shrimp, a few small hermits and 3 or 4 assorted snails. My main reef is a 60 gallon.

I don't know if this qualifies as a Nano but my Mr Aqua 12g bookshelf tank is plumbed into my 500 gallon 6 tank system. It makes maintenance and stability much easier.
This is currently used for frag tank overflow though.

The rest of the system is like this but more details in my Build Thread.

I used to have a DIY AIO I made with a 20L for a Frogfish back in 2018.

I am planning on adding a Fluval EVO 13.5 in January. Most likely will plumb that to have auto water changes into this system too.

If going purely by definition of what makes a reef a "nano" reef, it turns out that my reef is a nano reef being that its only 33 gallons. This revelation led me to ask myself, "Why don't I have a larger reef?"

edit: I guess its not really a nano as I just double checked the definition and a reef is typically considered a nano when it's under 30 gallons. I'm still gonna need a larger one in a couple of years...

Technically I do have a Nano tank since my wife has a classroom tank. The reason I don't have one at home... Also my wife. She's convinced I spend too much time on my tank as is

I almost got a nano tank during Black Friday deals but I already have 3 freshwater and 1 saltwater tank. Looking to reduce some tanks (freshwater) for easier maintenance and time.

You will always need a larger tank, no matter what! Lol
I used to have a 75, but it was a FOWLER and I had just gotten better lighting and was starting to introduce softies when life circumstances forced me out. I've been in and out of the hobby several times over the years due to "life." Interestingly enough, I do have a brand new reef ready 220 in the basement. It's never even seen water and Its been sitting down there for about 10 yrs. I had originally gotten it for my african cichlids, (frontosa) but never did anything with it because I heard the Marineland tanks were notorious for blowing seams. I really should do something with it, but I'd be heartbroken to get a nice established reef up and running only to have a seam blow out.... Perhaps I should just sell it if I could get it out of there. Moving it down there literally put me in the hospital with a massive abdominal hernia. LOL

We have a 15 gallon Nano in the same room as the big tanks. The Nano just got upgraded to RedSea E170 and I think it’s going to become the display frag and coral QT tank.

I’m fairly new so nano tanks scare me a little bit managing swings and stuff. My girlfriend wants seahorses so maybe a nano in the bedroom or something someday…I’m already planning a peninsula or something larger for a tang specific tank in a few years. Need some place to go for my yellow and white tail when they out grow what I have, and want to add more tangs.

My wife said no. Since she puts up with my other hobbies I figure one tank build at a time is plenty. I have time to convince her otherwise.
