I didn't use all the bits and bobs, just kept it simple. Left to right:

Short drain pipe
Long pipe with T for return
Long drain pipe

LOL
I just emailed him. I'm missing my overflow cover as well. I'm sure he'll handle it. I've got time
Oh man, its a nice cover. Keeps my wrasse from going in there.
I just got the tank and we're building the stand.
Whats with the little pipe reduced from 1" to 3/4" ?
The setup is so confusing to me. It's a nightmare trying to figure out how to hard plumb this guy. It made me lazy.

You may even have to make your own short pipe for the herbie overflow. That one looks very very short. Mine is 10 inches, half of the overflow height.

Okay so If I'm hard plumbing and I am then it goes in the crap bucket?

Those weird tubes attach like this, Should have been one per each side. But if the t pipe fits fine, I don't see a reason to add that 3/4 tube.

You can toss that green hose away.

My connector adapters are still short. I had to use plumbers tape to seal up any leaks.

I circled the wrong one, but 2nd pic should be the one with the part in question, it's an adapter, connected to that weird plumbing piece.

The piece you are asking about it an extension for the T pipe. If you don't need to use it, and it throws your pipe off center. Definitely don't use it. I had too because, it's crappy plumbing.
The Tpipe should touch and be secure against the overflow. Attach the return nozzles on the outside of the box.
It's one of those pipes for lazy cutters and guys who don't measure.

NP! I was driving my husband insane. First time I got to play with a real overflow. Since you got all that stuff, I am sure you could make a better T for your return pipe.

I’ll try. I always say, ‘I’m gonna take my time on this one and do it right.’ Then the excitement sets in and you wanna get done to get to the next stage and that’s where the oversights and problems start
