Wife Thinks I Love My Fish More Than Her - Aquarium Warmer Than The House This Winter!

Please R2R - help me save the marriage. Been bitter cold this winter and the fuel bills are crazy. Wife complaining that the aquarium (78 degrees) is warmer than the house (67 degrees). She says she is freezing and the fish laugh at her every time she walks by the aquarium.

Looking for some creative ways to:

1) Get the fish to stop taunting her
2) Explain humans are more temp tolerant
3) Save energy/save money
4) Reduce heating bill but keep wife warm
5) Anything that will help save the marriage and avoid my sleeping on the sofa!

Well, the heat that leaves the aquarium does end up in your home. The only money you're losing in the winter is paying more for the same amount of energy by heating with electricity vs. gas or whatever.

Yes I agree. But I do think there is a more cost efficient way to heat your house though it would be nice to line the walls with reef and fish based radiators. Lol

I probably made the mistake of putting my heater controller on the outside of my aquarium!

I’m lucky (I guess ?) and my wife doesn’t like me running heat in the winter. Our house stays around 62-64 degrees. The fish tank though runs at 79.5 degrees.

My thermometer readout comes to my phone and under the cabinet where she cant see it. The readout on my DT heater gave up the 7 now looks like a 1 also so it reads 11 degrees.

I convinced mine of that too. I also told her my tank makes free heat because I keep flame scallops, firefish, fire coral, fireclowns and sunburst anthius which all adds heat to the tank. ;Wideyed

My wife has a giggle when she comes into the room and I am seated in front of the tank checking all is well or with a torch looking for those odd hitchhikers. Then I laugh at her watching "reality" TV shows.
I put the AC on on hot days. She puts it on on cold days.
