What stocking are you thinking about?

I think we are going to stick to mostly corals. We may do a couple of small fish - maybe a firefish, and the small yellow goby. Not sure at the technical name of the goby - it's very small and pretty much stays on the rocks, and jumps from rock to rock. We had one many years ago, and loved him.

That goby sounds a lot like a blenny, though i could be wrong. Firefish are great, I have one in my 14 gallon, they are a bit reclusive though.

I would say a week before the fish come in, though this varies based on your clean up crew. Personally I would do:
- maybe 5 hermits
- 3 narrisius snails OR 6 cerith snails
- 4 margarita snails
- 2 turbo snails (though these do get big, but i use one in my 14 gallon)
- emerald crab
- (maybe) some live food (tisbe, copepods, etc)
- Please do not buy some "clean up crew" from online, these are generally way too big and you end up having to make mess so that your cleaner crew can live.

Later, once the fish are in I would add more delicate cleaners like a skunk shrimp, starfish, and etc.

It's recommended that you have 1 nass snail 1 algae snail and 1 crab per 10 gallons I would not recommend any starfish or emerald crab if you plan to have a reef.

Sorry I completely disagree with using live rock vs dry rock. The only difference in the immediate short term is the cycle period. Over time dry rock is the exact same as live rock. Eventually the biodiversity in the live rock will die off and one species will take over. It's no different than using dry rock. Dry rock is good Bc you're not bringing in pests from live rock and it's a ton cheaper

Thanks @aaron23 - The title to my post is misleading - I didn't catch it in time to change it, and I don't know how. I technically have "liferock" from CaribSea. We have about 20lbs of that and 20lbs of dryrock. We are ghost feeding the tank, and adding Brightwell Aquatics MicroBacter7, and Seachem Laboratories Freshwater and Marine Stability according to bottle instructions. It's a waiting game right now - waiting for it to cycle.

I agree with this, especially with someone just starting out. Live rock can add biodiversity, but it can also bring nasty pests that you can spend months trying to get rid off.

Ha ha ha, same, seems your husband's aquascaping skill's are more practical than mine by far. BTW example of live rock, just now i found a banded sea serpent in a new live rock piece of mine, that's the second one I've seen today, plus a few copepods when i was killing some aiptasia that was also on a piece of live rock.
Gee I could get so lucky, I got my live rock from my LFS and nothing was on it that I could see. My local Petco has turned themselves around big big time and hired a aquatic specialist, they're even selling frags. But I got live rock from them ( total of ten Lbs now) and no luck on any of it to get anything other than the microorganism. The piece from my LFS they painted the larger rock to make it look like coralline was on it. But it looks like it's almost done cycling.

Your tank looks fantastic ydarr, keep up the good.

Thank you so much @Bob Escher! It took my husband FOREVER to get it just right! Now, we just wait for it to cycle!

Yeah your so right I only have ten LBS of live cause I have it in a ten gallon quarantine tank. Which I'm starting first. I have another 30 lbs dry rock sitting just waiting to go into the 65 gal I'll be setting up shortly and I'll also buy more live rock as well
