Hello all, i just was wondering whether or not my emerald crabs will be a problem with my candy cane and Duncan coral drags. I've heard mixed results...

If needed to be removed, are there any ways to ease the process?

He is going to knock them over if they are not glued down. Make sure he is getting enough to eat.

You'll most likely be fine, but anything is possible for an opportunistic feeder. I'm pretty sure an emerald ate two small fish of mine, hard to prove though.

Not if you make sure to keep them well fed. My emerald crab never touched my corals. He did attack the tongs with a vengeance if they were anywhere near him, he sure was feisty! but no interest in coral meat, only ate what I fed him.

I've *personally* not had any issues with emerald crabs and corals. They seem to prefer the algae and whatever they find in the rocks

Mine hasn't touched my Duncan or other corals. I see them (I have 2) sometimes around the corals but if I look closely it is eating stuff on the plug or around it and not the coral itself. It has however helped keep my bubble algae under control.

I know this is old, but my emerald completely stripped my candy cane. Caught it doing it tonight. Candy cane is down to the skeliton now.

Glad I found this post , sat watching one of our emerald crab take nips out of our new duncan. Thought it was scavenging algea, till it ripped off polyp. Caught the little monster and sent to over flow chamber. He's heading back to lfs
