Thanks and I plan to keep you guys updated. Right now I’m having a hard time deciding on the skimmer and lighting to choose from.
For lights, I’m looking at the Red Sea Reef LED 90, or the AI Hydra 32

Looking good! I recently acquired a used black 70.2 so I will be following along! Curious about one thing. Did you modify the overflow cover to mount your light?

Today I transferred some of my additives to pump bottles as suggested by @Jake Adams.

Each pump is 1ml, this has made dosing much easier.

So I have had some significant issues with low PH (7.7-8.1 is my daily range). My ALK is stable around 8. My protein skimmer uses a CO2 scrubber in a recirculating configuration.

I live in a 1 bedroom NYC (800 sqft) apt without central AC/Heat. My gas
burning stove/range is also not vented. I had hoped that the CO2 scrubber would help with the Low PH, and it has to some degree (it was 7.5-7.9) but the PH is not where I want it for good acro growth.

I have noticed that opening my windows rapidly increases my ph, but I cannot always have them open. Also with the aquarium being on the inside of the building and the apartment being a rental I cannot make any modifications.

with the current recirculating design my CO2 absorbent is lasting much longer and I do not feel that CO2 is being incorporated to the tank in that manner. My guess is that it is just diffusing across the surface of the tank.

I ordered a room CO2 monitor to test ambient air CO2 and it should be in this weekend.

I have been chatting with Randy Holmes on Reef2Reef and he suggested that I switch my Ca and Alk doing you kalkwasser as it provides pure hydroxide ions and will raise PH. I have also thought about adding a macro algae reactor on a reverse schedule.

any thoughts or advice?
