Really happy with my house sitter. Came home and after scraping the glass the tanks look better than before I left :)

New lid thanks to @cromag08!

After adding the new acrylic lid I noticed that I'm starting to get coralline algae growth on the glass :)

I'm not looking forward to the scraping, but am stoked the parameters are on point. I have also been successfully keeping three acros alive for the last month.

Now, I just need to hook up the CA reactor and get it dialed in.

The calcium reactor is hooked up and seems to be doing it's job. I have the Apex set to cut on at 6.8 pH and off at 6.75 pH. I originally had the bottom set at 6.5 pH but I have the bubble count setting low enough that the pH never got close to 6.5 pH and the alk/calcium seem to have stayed within tolerances. So, I decided to raise the low level on the controller to see if I could avoid using CO2 constantly. I'm wondering if I ought to just leave it as it was to avoid the on/off wear and tear on the regulator relay.

I wanted to give a shout out to @Diesel for his help getting it dialed in :)

Remember the melting point from your media may lay around 6.5.
If you need more ALK or CAL you need to be at that target.

I'm keeping a close eye on it. You can see where I made the change and even before the change it never really dipped below 6.7 and is delivering enough alk/calcium per daily testing:

I had some major setbacks with the tank and lost the majority of my coral and fish :(

It took a couple years of slow going, but it is looking better than it ever has now.

One of the setbacks was montipora eating nudibranches so it is no longer as Monti-centric as it was. However I have gotten good growth on the corals I do have. Another problem I have is keeping track of the names of the acros, so I don’t know which are which since the colors never look the same as the seller’s photos.

Here’s some new photos of the tank (the big rocks are still in the same layout) as well as my wife’s 33g long tank which is on the same system:

The prior photos were just iPhone unfiltered. They don’t really show the best colors. Here are some that I applied a filter to that look a little more accurate, but seem to skew green to yellow:
