Wow, it has been a while. My reef is doing well. Not fantastic but well. Most of the corals and fish are doing wonderfully now. But i lost a few fish and some corals are "surviving" not growing. Also having a bit of an issue with algaes. I stay on top of it but i get small growths of hair algae on occasion and im having more and more trouble keeping up with bubble algae. It gets in the tightest places. :( I also have a red turf like algae that seems to be parasitic to my coraline. Wierd.
My digi, birds nest, favia and micromusa are the strained corals. But red planet, pavona, monti caps, torch, hammer, frogspawn, elegans, zoas, leathers etc... all growing and happy. Im even bringing a cool red lps back from near death. Got it for $20 ;)
So fish that made it through the trouble are flame angel, yellow tang, springeri dottyback, pair of clowns, pair of watchman gobies. I added a large blue tang that was in need of a home. Thats my current list.
I recently got my web cam going. Cool to see my tank in real time 20 miles away at work :)

Updated vid. Still recovering. Looks good though. I think. A few pics too. My large and xl serpent stars. My tube nem at night. A round red lps coral i bought to recover. It was hurting. But its eating well and coming back. Any ids? Not sure the type. It just ate. The mouth is not usually that tight. Lol
My pearl bubble at night. Love the way it grows right over the rock. Forever anchored now.

Local swap went awesome. Got my green cap and digi back as well as my purple digi, my setosa and a new forest fire digi. And a few new frags as well :) so cool. Most of the monti frags are from frags i traded before. My own colonies returning. :)

Just finished a 50% water change. Always a bit worried when I do something this big. However everybody seems to have come through with flying colors. My Montis seem to be recovering although I do not want to jinx it. And most of my corals if not all are on the up-and-up.

Few things to report today. First my Elegance had waminoa flat worm on it. I know these worms are not too deadly unless they overpopulate. So I was not too worried about it I took the Elegance out and dipped it in flatworm exit. That took most if not all of them off I'll go from there. Also I Collapse the entire write two thirds of my rock work while searching for my new anemone. Wound up doing an entire tank rework. So here it is. I'm pretty happy with it. Don't mind the leathers and the frag rack they are all going soon.

Tank is still doing well. Think I may have had my LEDs to intense. My montis are a bit bleached. But I'm fixing it slow. My red Octo nem is awesome. Also banished to the fuge. Crazy snail preditor! Fuge is trying to recover. I cannot get my pod population to grow. Very upsetting. But spring will bring help with new macros and pods.

Sooooooo, I did this. Probably not super smart. But I've wanted another engineer goby for a while. The one I used to have in my first tank was not planned for and wreaked havoc. I feel this tank is better suited, but time will tell.
Also they both have white spots. So I am also testing my theory that ick is always present and just gets bad when stressed. So here goes what could be an expensive lesson.

Been neglecting my thread again. I've got a bunch of stuff going on too. I'm going to post more about it tonight. Exciting things happening.:)
On a side note one of the little gobis disappeared the first night. The other about four days later. So neither one made it but there was no ill effect from putting them in.

A lot has happened. First all my montis died again. Some are in critical condition. Also had trouble with the couple of my other SPS and my Zoa's started to do poorly. All of my parameters out of whack. I am not sure how it happened. I nitrate Spike to 40ppm. Alk was about 14, calcium around 500, mag round 1200. Immediately did a water change and started testing daily without any additives other than vodka. The vodka has been slowly bringing down my nitrates. They are in the neighborhood of 15 to 20 now. The weird thing is the calcium and alkalinity.
I stopped dosing altogether and the levels are not dropping. Or if they do they drop less than a point in 24 hours. (10.9-10.7) then when they finally got to 9.7 i used the brs calc to get back to 10 and wound up at 10.5. Same with calc. Asjusted 425 to 430 with the calculater and wound up at 445. It is as though my tank is getting calcium and alkalinity from somewhere other than dosing. The only thing that comes to mind is possibly leaking back out of the sand as it was so high to begin with. But I honestly have no clue. I have not dosed for 3 days now and my levels have stayed consistently at 9.9 alk and 435 on calcium. I am dosing 2.5 ml a day vodka for nitrates and that's it.
All the corals and fish and everything are fine now but I cannot for the life of me figure out why my dosing schedule is so messed up.
A friend picked up a tank break down and gave me a 6-inch Abalone which did not make it through the first night. I was so upset he was such a cool critter. I feel really bad. He also gave me a bunch of clusters of shelving Coraline. The tank that was broken down was absolutely covered in it. And I accepted a second flame angel. I am currently evaluating whether he can stay.
Just had a swap this past week that went really well got rid of a lot of corals and also picked up a few new ones. I hope that I can keep the tank in order long enough for them to take root.
Picked up a new little Mandarin as my refugium has been back to its original Glory. Pod and worm populations are in full force. :) and my new little man has been eating like a champ. Pretty happy about that. I was waiting to punch in at work and remembered I was supposed to update so there's some quick stuff for you. I will put more along with some pictures and videos as soon as I can. Hopefully tonight
