Ok ladies and gents! Aside from a few touch ups and base molding she’s ready for the new tank! On top of a busy weekend I was able to score a 300 gallon Rubbermaid tub! Will use it as a temp holding tank for the fish fam!

Anyone have any recommendations for a skimmer for 3-500 gallon tanks? I think I’ll basically run this Rubbermaid as an all in one while I gather everything for the big build.

Welcome to the ride! I need to change the title as it will no longer be 300 gallons. Not exactly anyway. I found a used 225 6’ tank and hopefully will pick it up this weekend. I also plan on buying his t5 8x80 at I fixture, rolling light rack and a reeflo orca 250. Tank comes with a 90 gallon sump and stand. Stay tuned!

Just dropping in to throw down a few photos of the progress and preparation towards getting the tank downstairs! Light sliding rail installed, tank sled built, started on filling in a little drywall. More to come tomorrow!

It’s in! Luckily I have some training in high angle rescue and has some spare equipment that I could use to lower it down the stairs. Took 6 grown men to move it. Only had to lift it for about 3 feet to get it in the sled I built for its journey! It was a stressful event but all in all it went really well. Tomorrow I’ll make sure it’s nice and level then start plumbing.

I am really enjoying how it all turned out. I will slowly start moving stuff over from my 75 gallon soon. Mostly want to get the apex/trident moved then slowly start moving critters and misc. equipment. New build should pretty much instant cycle as I am using dry rock that has been cycling for a few weeks now and had handled a few ammonia cycles. Plus the rock from my 75. I plan to add rock after a while bacause this took mos tof my fun money for a bit. I will try to add some photos of the business end tonight. Feel free to remind me!!! I owe yall some pictures.
  • Large tank (225)
  • Large sump (90)
  • Large skimmer (Reeflo Orca 250)
  • Offline refugium (20 long)
  • 72" 8x80 T5
  • Two Sicce 9.0 return pumps
  • 2 MP 40 for flow, may add a gyre in there or a couple MP10's

Ok if you’re still following I owe you an apology for not keeping this entirely up to date! Everything is now moved over to the new build and looking happy! Next step will be to figure out all the crazy amounts of wiring and hoses to route and make look pretty but it’s running and everything is stable and perfectly clear! What a day! It was stressful but so far it’s going good! I didn’t plan on moving the kessils over but couldn’t take it without the shimmer they provide. I’ll have to figure out a way to mount them on the front shooting down because they are in the way of the moveable rolling frame for the t5 the way they are mounted now. More to follow as I tidy things up.
