Hello Woodster,
I'm also looking into purchasing a C-Vue 40 (Cobalt said they should have more in stock in a couple weeks). Your tank is going to be awesome and I love the stand (could sell those on the side LOL) I have a question about the lighting, will that one fixture be sufficient for corals?

The C-Vue is a fantastic tank. They are truly crafted with style in mind. I appreciate your comment on the stand. I took a lot of time trying to figure out how I’d like it to look.

ASAG62 -
OP stated in post #14 that he’ll be adding another AI prime once the tank cycles. You may have overlooked his comment about the additional light. Hope this helps.

And yes I will be adding another AI Prime HD. I currently have the prime over my Biocube 16 acclimating my corals to their new light. Hopefully my tank is now cycled. Just going slow so the process is finished completely.

So, I have moved the Biocube into the C-Vue 40 but haven’t had time to take any pictures! I will update soon so everyone can see!

Alright everyone,

So to start out I would have to say I long debated lighting systems, and honestly the Prime HD has far succeeded my expectations. I love how my corals have adapted to it and the moonlight and weather functions are super cool.

I still have to get my second one but I was itching to get my coral and cherub into the new build. The suspense had been killing me.

The Jebao wave maker will - at full strength push waves almost completely out of the tank on the other end, and for the price is almost hard to beat.

I used some loc line tubing to split the flow to three sides of the tank, partly due to the sand blowing completely off the front to bare glass. I am still experimenting with the lengths and configuration needed to achieve the best results.

The rock work was changed a third time and I’m not quite sure if I should change it again once getting the next light. I will have to say it has grown on me.

And lastly, I finally added the Chemipure blue into the back chamber.

I will post separatly with some amazing eye candy pictures.

But most importantly I’ve been testing daily to make sure my parameters stay in line. Because I have still not done a water change.

Using the Blue Red Sea salt.

My testing results after tank move on 4/24:
4/25
pH: 8.0
Ammonia: .25
Nitrite:0
Nitrate :10
(Added some balance from aquavitro)

4/27
pH: 8.4
Ammonia: .25
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate:10

4/28
pH : 8.0
Ammonia: .5
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 10

All the coral and fish seem to be doing good and look healthy.

I feed heavily using about a cap full of aquavitros fuel a day and using the frozen fish eggs and reef roids about once or twice a week.

The fish get a combo of reef nutrition arctipods, pe mysis, reef roids lol, fish eggs and lrs nano reef frenzy.

So big update!!!

While looking for fish to restock the Biocube, the other half found a fish at the LFS that she has been wanting since the start of our adventure into the hobby.

A 1” blue hippo tang.

The tank is now stocked with:
Cherub Angelfish
Pair of oscellaris clowns
And the baby blue hippo

After releasing the blue hippo the cherub immediately took notice to him and started nipping him.

A little later in the evening the tang was very aggressively scratching himself on the rocks and I sprung into action.

I took a gallon of tank water and soaked him in malachite green for about 30 minutes.

I then put him into methelin blue bath for about 15 minutes. After taking him out I soaked him in freshwater for about 1 minute.

I took another gallon out of the tank and placed him into that for about an hour with an air stone and heater.

The final step I took was placing him into another freshwater bath with cupramine for 2 minutes.

He stayed in a bucket overnight with about a gallon of water until I made sure he was breathing and eating alright.

Today I went to my lfs and got an acrylic cage that I put into the tank and he will reside in until I can make sure I do not need to repeat the process.

Any input from anyone in regards to dealing with his stress level and/ or treatments/baths feel free to comment.

I’m not looking for the tang police and would appreciate only kind words and suggestions.

Matt

Sorry for the overload on pictures but I can’t seem to edit them and get the thread quite how I would imagine it’d go.

I have recently gone to WWC as well as picked up a fairy wrasse at my LFS.

The Biocube is now the home to the Cherub Angel, a firefish, cleaner shrimp and Bangai Cardinal.

Following along.

Great work on the stand!

As my 75G is up and running now I'm starting to think of an anemone only tank using a cvue 40. I'll need to build a low stand for it given its final location. May I get a look at the plans for your stand?

The color of the Paint is Hawaiian Sky and it was in the Behr Marquee Paint - #1 rated on consumer reports. The other half picked it out!

Thanks for the positive comments! A RFA tank with some ledges would be awesome for a tank this size. I moved up from a 16 gallon biocube and feel like the C-Vue is the perfect tank for myself- I don't feel as comfortable with plumbing a sump.......yet. lol send me a pm and I can send u some specs
