Would a older skimmer benefit from added bubble diffuser like all newer skimmers?

I have an older eshopps psk-150 skimmer. 22" tall, 4-5" wide, External pump. Would adding a bubble diffuser benefit older skimmer like mine? I have never seen one in person. Is the bubble diffuser just a enclosed cylinder with holes in the top?

Not my post....but similar skimmer.

Cylinder with holes is a reasonable description for the diffuser. I’m not certain why they use them? Should be easy enough to make one and add it to your skimmer.
I’m not sure what improvements would be found from the exercise?

As far as diffuser impacts, that design application would destroy bubbles rather than diffuse them, (it would seem like that to me, anyway) but what it may impact is the swirling time for the bubbles to contact junk in the water column. In other words it’s diffusing water not air?

Who knows? I don’t really but it seems like if we get a discussion going somebody who knows exactly what is happening will say so, and hopefully it will be obvious that they do.
