So some small updates :) The the tank is starting to settle into a really nice stride! Most of the algae and ugliness is finally dying off and the rocks are looking nicer! The corals are looking happy and doing well despite the ugliness and I'm getting solid pe on the two acro's I have in the tank too! Here's a dodgy shot from the other night.

The artemia fun times tank is nearly ready, just missing a couple pieces of equipment to be ready to go! I've got my high tech hatching station of bottles and a styro box holder ready as well. I'll be using some simple cheap Ikea strip lights for lights to grow them and also for the phyto which I will be doing on the shelf above. Still deciding on what species of phyto to do but potentially t. iso and dunaliella and maybe something else down the line :)

Looks to be in great shape! Unless you’re only 12 YO and then it’s not as impressive, but everything else would be!
haha I've kept it well care for and has had a few different lives over the course of the last 18 years haha but this will be the first use it's had in about 7 years or so haha

Nice start to the station! Phyto culturing is definitely part of the game plan for my next build. Requesting gushy details on your process as it comes along mate ;)
Don't worry, I definitely plan on logging it pretty heavily on the details :) I'll need it for my own reference haha so why not share it with everyone :)

Looking great!! Maturing a tank is a lot harder today than it was 15-20 years ago!
I agree, especially given the move away from live rock to dry rock and bacteria but as much as I'd love to have done the live rock route the control over unwanted badies is just too hard to go past! I'm happy to suffer for 6 months or so for the control you get! :)

Do you guys have access to live rock in Australia? I know you can just walk in the water and get it just curious if it's legal.

Oh yeah, we definitely have access to it and some really nice stuff too but super super illegal to collect it yourself! I'm probably going to add a piece or two to a dark spot in the sump for a bit of diversity once the last of the gunk is gone :)

Alrighty! So I'm happy to say that after the bumpy as road we've been travelling for the last 8 months with the tank, it's finally at a stage we're I'm really starting to be happy with the place it in. It's been a long road with the bacteria bloom, fish loses, followed by the ****-storm of algae growth from the dissipation of the bloom but as of the water change I did on Saturday, it's pretty much 80-90% gone now and the rocks are looking clean!! So much so that I've even taken a bunch of pics haha we've been pretty lacking on pics here in this journal! So please enjoy these nice FTS pics

As you can see, it's not perfect yet but it's doing so much better that I'm over the moon! Corals are a little pale because there's basically no bioload in the tank but I'm feeding heavily and dosing some amino's and such to help counteract that :)

And of course the two newest members of the household that were demanded we got by Georgia (who I really should take fish shopping with me more often as I get away with so much more haha)

Also my favourite snails, they're chonky bois but they look so fantastic!
