Not sure if anyone answered you yet but as far as I know acan lords used to be grouped as acanthastrea. But more recently they were reclassified as micromussa lorhowensis. So it seems like the acan part stuck and people added the lord part to differentiate it. But this is just my guess.
yeah, so the Aussie lords being sold here are really Acans not Micromussa Lordhowensis, correct?

Pretty accurate. I try to use micromussa lords..... but most of the info has them as acans still.... Especially if you want info past 4-5 years ago.... I think they were reclassified in 2016
