I have to admit I find the whole wrasse binomial naming utterly confusing. I'm interested in the Lunate Wrasse but I'm not sure which of the species the one you have for sale actually is. The one above is the true Cirrhilabrus lunatus, from around Japan correct? Not the new crescent tail that has been showing up that comes from Indonesia & Philippines ?

A lot of fish they once thought was endemic to Japan has been showing up in Philippines. Even the holy grail Lanceolatus Fairy was found and once thought to be endemic to Japan only.
Perhaps the El Niño has done something odd to the currents and pushed larvae closer to Philippines. One can only assume.
The other Lunatus is actually Lunatus cf. has the body color more like a pintail. This one is the true described Lunatus. As far we know. There may even be 3 types. The tell tale sign is the orange bar that runs through the flank of this lunatus.
