So I wanted to start my tank thread so get opinions on what I had planned. I'm coming back to the hobby and a few year break so I'm sure a lot has changed. So my setup is as follows:

Tank: Red Sea Reefer 170
Main Pump: Lifeguard Aquatics Quiet One 3000
Heater: Eheim Jager TruTemp 100 Watt
Live Sand: CaribSea Arag-Alive Hawaiian Black Sand 20 lb
Live Rock: CaribSea Life Rock - 20 lbs
Dry Rock: AquaMaxx Pukani Dry Live Rock - 25 lbs
Chiller: JBJ Arctica 1/10HP (From old tank) w/ Lifegard Aquatics Quiet One Pro 1200
Skimmer: Tunze Comline DOC Protein Skimmer 9004 or Reef Octopus BH-50 Multi-Mount
Display Powerhead: EcoTech Marine VorTech MP10
Reactor: Two Little Fishies 150 Reactor
Light: EcoTech Marine RMS Single Radion Tank Mount for XR30 or AquaIllumination Hydra TwentySix HD LED Fixture

Please give me some feedback on my list.

Here is a pic of my old tank.

I agree with looking into an Apex, I like the Jager heaters would consider adding a second one along with a second MP10.

So far tank looks well built. I like the all glass sump and auto top-off container. The AI prime light seems good. I was having trouble with setting up schedule for light. Using the iOS app the light would turn off when I messed with setting too often. I setup a light schedule on my computer to test and it turned on and off as it should. So far I'm happy with both tank and light.

Finally got the tank up and running. Had to play with pump and fine tune valve for a while to get the system to quite down, but now I hear the pump more then the overflow. Going to aquascape tonight and post some pics.

Might need change the aquascape some but it's a start. Water has cleared up a lot by this morning. Now to get the chiller running. My house gets pretty hot in the summer time

Tank has been up and running for almost a month now. Start to get green stuff on the rock not sure what it is and cocopods. Last pic is hard to see but I have tiny critters on my glass. Might drop in a Zoa frag or something next week and see how it goes. After I check all my levels.

Thanks for uploading those pictures. I was wondering if I could use my Tunze 9004 on a reefer 170 or 250 and I see the water level is too low on that sump for it to work

I don't think I chose the right skimmer. I wanted something with a small profile but didn't consider water leve height. It still skimming but it could be doing a better job. I'll post pics of my fix once it's installed. Going to use plexiglass and water coming from media reactor or chiller to raise water level at skimmer only.
