So I was inspecting my live rock and noticed this little guy snugged in one of the crevices, any idea of what it could be? Also what are these? I got them in my live rock rubble and they seem to be alive? Thanks everyone for any help, it is much appreciated.

My guess is sponge or tunicate. Either way, no harm, no foul.

It looks like an LPS coral, and yes, it is alive! It won't stay that way unless you figure out what type of coral it is, feed it, and adjust light and tank parameters to meet its needs. I can't quite tell from the picture what type it is but it's clear the colony is not happy. Each one of those stems holds an animal with a separate mouth that needs food and light to survive. My guess by the shape of the coral is it's a type of sun coral, dendro, or possibly even a very unhappy duncan. If the 'stems' or 'tubes' are soft to the touch, it is a soft coral. If the 'stems' or tubes are hard, it's an LPS. Go to Live Acquaria https://www.liveaquaria.com/category/597/coral and look at the corals offered for sale and then match them to what you have in your tank. Once you positively identify the coral, do a little homework and research the care it needs. If you don't have the equipment to provide what it needs, the colony will die. As you are so new to the hobby, I would recommend that you find a good home for the coal with an experienced reefer if does not open up within a few weeks or if it looks like it's starting to die rather than to let it die. Just my opinion. Keeping coral happy is much harder than just keeping fish.

I got a few pieces like that in the rock rubble I ordered for my sump and tossed that one in the DT. Hopefully orphek will ship my light here soon, I could transfer it to the fuge where it will at least have some light but if it’s a sun coral will light be a necessity? As far as target feeding, what can I use? I have some mysis?
