yesterday, my goby got stuck in the rock, I managed to help him and push him through the hole, evaluated him, and no physical injuries were present, no cuts/scrapes, nothing.
I come home from school today, my filefish and goby are hiding, I turn the lights on, and my firefish comes out, and goby too. my clarkii then goes at the firefish for a little nip. no injuries on the firefish, all was normal. but my goby, dang, cuts, redness at his back fin. back fin basically missing, pectorals are badly cut and shredded, as are the others.
should I remove the clarkii? I am planning to put a six line(I consulted multiple of my lfs's, they all said the same, yes to six line) so im hesitant to put occelairris, this is gonna be my moms anemone tank.

Are these the only 3 fish in the tank? You definitely need to do something to help the YWG heal. Do you have a seperate tank available?

these r the only 3, I am thinking of returning clarkii, but I dont have a separate tank, I do have a 10 gal in my room, but my clown in there loves to kill
and my spare 10 gal, its not cycled, can I just stick in water or do I have to cycle?

I would return the Clarkii then. The 2 gobies are not attacking each other. Also, on the six line, I would make that the last fish in the tank. They are great fish, I have one. But they can also become very aggressive. So if they are the last fish in, all territory has already been established, they should be fine.

How big is the tank? That will make a big difference on who is compatible. In a small tank I wouldn’t dare put a six line with a clown.
Once fin damage gets to the base of the fin, it likely won’t grow back (it can, but very rarely). The biggest thing to watch out for is infection, which will kill the fish even if it starts to heal. Best bet is to get the fish into a qt and treat with an antibiotic like kanaplex.
Given that the clarkii has already gotten aggressive, I doubt it will stop. The best thing you can do is rehome it before things get worse.
Occelaris are a toss up. Mine are absolute nightmares.

you are of course absolutely correct about tank size. That is why I noted that mine is a 90 gallon. Wow, about your ocellaris! Mine are great with everyone in th tank. And they were the very first ones in. But also, as I mentioned to the OP, every fish is different. One never knows.

Sorry - missed that in title

I mean that they vary greatly in aggression. For some they are model citizens, for others they are terrible. I’m in the unlucky camp.
IMO a 20 gallon is to small for any clown or sixline to share space with other fish.

Clarki as well as maroon and Sebae are known aggressive and are biters and can do damage. These clowns will in time will go after your hand when doing maintenance. Best would be to isolate the clown for about 10 days and see if behavior changes, If not, you have a decision to make

YEp! I used to have a clarkii in my old 110 gallon ,and when I would put my hand in there to feed his anemone, he would bite me every time! Even though he KNEW I was feeding his anemone, it ticked him off that my hand was in HIS home.

Flasher wrasse' are pretty mellow, where the six line is a KNOWN aggressive fish. Just be careful. IF you have a good amount of rockwork in there it may be fine. Just keep in mind that all fish need space to call their own.

Pink streak is a good sixline lookalike for a 20. Possum wrasses also work. Both are on the more expensive side and don’t show up frequently though.
From what I’ve been told, flashers are quite active and do best in at least a 4 foot long tank.

I have a sixline in qt right now and after 20 minutes of acclimation I decided it had to be qt’ed separately from the rest of the fish in qt. Not the most pleasant fish, but I’ll see how it does in a bigger tank (biocube 32).

Not a wrasse, but a royal gramma is a great and beautiful rock-dwelling fish. I’ve never had problems with them being aggressive.

Well, both stay small, so you should be fine. You first concern though should be taking care of that poor little YWG!

I often do antibiotic baths for my fish in situations like this, once a day but have done twice a day for bad infections.

My favorite to use is Nitrofuracin Green. 20 min bath in tank water in a bowl. You only need a tiny amount for a bath and I keep it labled and in the freezer and it is still good many years past the expiration.
