Yellowtail surgeon of cozmel

Anyone know where I can get one. Went scuba diving and there were thousands so shouldn't be endangered. And they color and pattern blow most other tangs out of water

$125. I think it is an import or collection issue with that region. I have looked into other fish from the area with little to no luck.

Is a quarter decent lol. The only other tang I have seen that small is a regal blue

Ive seen those in cozumel scuba diving a lot. I became partial to the carribean blue tang during my time snorkling in cozumel. I had known NOTHING about it prior (a few years ago). It was not in the trade very frequently as I had never come accross it (although I was not looking either)

Yea wouldn't do that. There were a few there that easily broke 18"

My lfs is thinking they will be stuck with him for quite some time as well. I will see if I can get a shot of the little guy next time I am in.

Wait a minute. I've never seen that fish in Cozumel and it's distribution as listed as Pacific Ocean.

Cozumel is on the Caribbean.

Look up his Atlantic cousin Prionurus biafraensis

That one is native to the eastern Atlantic (off the coast of Africa).

P. punctatus then maybe lol idk never been lucky enough to go down there. Prionurus are the only yellow tails I know of.

This is my favorite Cozumel fish. 'Course it's a damsel but I would like to see how it would be in a big FOWLR with tangs and angels.

I don't see the yellowtail damsel but I assume it's the blue damsel with the yellow tail?
