1. So you’re on vacation in Japan or the Philippines wearing your favorite Reefapalooza tee shirt and you come across a street vendor selling giant clams….to eat! A $150 Blue Maxima with peppers and lemon juice in a styrofoam cup for $4.
Are you conflicted? Curious? Or do you indulge?

Tough call. If the angel fish like it I guess it must taste good?

I do not remember if its tridacna, but clams are primarily maricultured for food first, and aquarium inhabitants second. That said, If I know it came from an aquaculture farm/facility, I'd happily try it.

Do you think we are getting ripped off with clam prices? I’d bet the “food clams” are MUCH cheaper!

I'm certain there's more work and time that goes into producing and distributing like class vs iced ones. So there is some more value. But S most things in this small niche, its all worth what someone will pay for it

I definately wouldnt be eating it raw,but thats more to do with me not being very adventurous trying new foods i guess, but if it was cooked i may try a little bit.but just because we keep clams or fish in our tanks wouldnt affect whether i ate sea food or not

I'd certainly give it a try. I've only found two things that I don't like so far: liver and rye whiskey, though I do occasionally give them a try again to see if my tastes have changed.
Funny!!! So “humans” aren’t reef safe either.
*with caution

You can still buy yellow tang for $2 at any fish market in Hawaii.
Unreal!!! There’s probably a food2food forum over there right now. Saying, “And the Americans are paying $200-$300 for these?

You wanna try that nice favia salad? I heard the flame angels say it was amazing!

I would gladly pass. They can help themselves. I don't like shellfood. Is that a word?

Your picture looks delicious but there's no way I'm eating seafood from a street vendor in Japan or the Philippines!
Right it would probably turn out to be Covid 19 the Clam variant!!!
