Well that’s basically what happened to one of my 6 resplendent anthias. Poor guy ate so much that I could see he had a clogged intestinal tract. It finally opened outwards and quickly became a large hole where you could see all the food or whatever was stopping him up. He went up to a cleaner shrimp and it ate it out of him...

I have some serious doubts he will make it. It’s a severe hole right into his digestive tract

Do you have a qt set up? He'll probably need antibiotics. @ngoodermuth @4FordFamily @HotRocks

I have a batch of fish in QT right now. I wouldn’t want to throw him in there. Also, this guy is going to be super hard to catch. He’s currently acting normal. Feisty even. He’s one of 2 male resplendents and he’s chasing some of the females around.

I’m leaning towards leaving him.

Update on the anthias. His wound is closing and his scales have flattened back down. It’s looking promising! Tough little fish.

I definitely have some misfits in my tank. I have 2 rescued bellus angels with issues. One has a bad eye. The other has a permanent swim bladder issue. Now this anthias. He’ll have a scar for sure but I think at this point that he’ll make it.

Interesting story with a great ending!
I wonder how much the cleaner shrimp had to do with its recovery.
