Do you like to stock lightly, lots of small fish? or a few decent sized ones?

I would eventually go with a tomini tang, its my favorite I have and really has nice color. When light hits him at midday for my lights high, his orange speckled body really shows. So bristletooth tang.

Or/and go with a nice variety of wrasses.

Besides my favorite family of fish 'Tangs' I'd suggest a mixed group of Wrasses including Leopards, Flashers and Fairy such awesome fish without a downside (with covered tank)

Bare bottom or sand bed? Always liked the gobies. Yellow Headed sleeper is one of my favorites. Plus they keep stuff turned up.

I am finding Triggers to be very enjoyable. I have a Blue Jaw and even though they eat a lot they are really fun too watch swim and interact with the other inhabitants.

I think a school of achilles tangs and nasos would be AWESOME in that tank! Be sure to add some lionfish, triggers, and eels as well while you are at it!

I think it would be really cool if you stocked the tank with nothing but captive bred stock. Bangaii cardinals would be great. You already have the clowns. See what else is out there for captive bred and have a flagship tank for a zero impact to the reef. It would surely show others that it can be done and you would get extra reef cred for doing it that way too.

Do the same for corals, only stock with captive propagated corals to have zero impact there as well.

Just throwing this out there, but the tank is only 4' long. Not nearly long enough for most Tangs, and definitely not enough for Achilles!

You should definitely consider a pair of rabbitfish - my favorite are Siganus doliatus, but S. magnifica and S. vulpinus are beautiful, as well, in addition to being much better 'utility fish' versus any tang.

As far as tangs go, Acanthurus japonicus is a favorite, though shy and passive, so if any other tangs are to in with it, add this one first.

Anthias, gotta have some anthias! Psudanthias bartlettorum, P. dispar, P. smithvanizi, P. pulcherrimus, Nemanthias carberryi are all beautiful fish.

Something that big I wouldn't get large fish at all!
For a 120 my stocking list would be:

Two clowns
A small group of jawfish
a BUTTLOAD of goby.
A school of Cardinal's (probably Bangaii)
A school of the most peaceful Chromis I could find
two types of dottybacks
two types of basslets

oh and
possum wrasses
