Beautiful fish in the saltwater aquarium hobby is not lacking and you don't have to spend a fortune to get a nice, good looking fish for your tank! So that being said let's talk about some great fish choices for under $100!

1. What's your favorite saltwater fish that's normally priced under $100?

2. What makes this fish your favorite choice?

I really miss my Convict tang. Simple, beautiful, always swimming around the front of the tank and definitely cheap. Unfortunately, my Regal tang is just too big and aggressive to risk adding another tang at this point.

There's so many it's ridiculous. Full reef safe I like the powder blue or brown tang. Lubbocks wrasse gets an honorable mention. Beautiful fish with pretty bold personality

My personal all around favorite is the rock beauty angel. Gorgeous with a bold personality

normally priced and what I pay for my fish are two different things lol. My favorite fish I paid under $100 for is my Vlamingi. But I fall into the category of "if I like it, I buy it no matter the cost" within reason. I love my purple tang, but was I going to pay retail for one? No. Generally though, if I like it, I buy it after some negotiating

Baby clown triggerfish for $40 would probably take the cake for me. Simply a stunning fish with some of the best colorations out there. Getting them as a baby seems to tame their bombastic behavior tho you never know and you always run the possibility of them going rogue in which nothing is safe in the tank. I’ve yet to have one go rogue and all have been model citizens.

Im a rule breaker..I paid $150. Absolute favorite is my Whitetail Bristletooth Tang. If I try to change anything around his cave, he has no problem putting me in my place.
Fish under $100 would be my Flame Hawkfish. I’ve never had a fish with so much personality and absolutely no fear.:)

I don't know if it's a good thing or bad when I vote and I'm in the majority group...always get suspicious when I'm voting with the crowd. :)

I try to stay in the $25-$50 range on fish. Easy with a smaller tank (40 gallons), but will go higher for something I really want (like that Flame Hawkfish).

Favorite fish so far...yellow watchman goby.

Now if you ask me I can spend $25 on a shrimp, I might find that harder to justify. Yet, I do.

Half the fish in my tank are under $10 per damsels ….

Favorite under $100 fish probably some kind of leopard wrasse.

So many to choose from in that range and love wrasses but if I have to pick my favorite in my tank for under $100 I would go with my Copper Band Buttefly. Really like the color combo and body shape, plus he detroyed by aptasia.

Sweet spot though I try to keep it reasonable but have gone to $300 a couple times.
