Almost looks like a silhouette/shadow or even an lcd screen where screen damaged ha ha
Cool very unusual fish none the less
They just don’t get better as they age, I think all the adult batfish are drab.

Keep your expensive angels, nothing pops in a reef tank like a Yellow Tang. Royal Gramma is also hard to beat.
I think it’s gotta be like those “classic” reef fish. Yellow tang is certainly stunning. I remember seeing one in a LFS when I was keeping cichlids and it blew my mind. The tank had a feather duster and an arrow crab in it too. Wild. It was like walking on mars compared to the fish tanks I had at the time. That was late 90s, there was still a lot of mystique around saltwater.

Blue ribbon eel. Not my image.

This is the eel I’d love to have. Stunners if you see one in person! My personal favourites are the Black Ribbons as they’re just so different to the slightly more common Blues.

Black ribbon eels are to be determined. They will morph into blue or green depending which gender they turn. Blue ribbons can still morph green. Blue = male, green = female, black = baby.

Also, they are reef safe with caution as many fish. They don't eat crabs or most fish. As it goes, fits in the mouth it is food. My ribbons never ate their tank makes. But, they loved shellfish served to them.

When I started the hobby back in '92, yellow tangs were everywhere. The ugliest fish I ever seen. Never wanted one. I spoke to the guy who ran the lfs because I wanted a mandarin goby, he told us their dietary needs, and I passed. I did keep one for 5+ years from 2006 to 2010 or 2012. My log is gone and pictures are destroyed, most of them
Around '94 I saw a purple tang.. I was a little fascinated. I eventually did get one. Kept her for many years until I moved.

Copper bands, purple tangs, mandarin gobies. I just love them!

My second ribbon eel, shy at first. I added all kinds of weird things to get him comfortable. Kept for a few years. Eventually he got out and no one was home.

Clownfish, they are sustainable, ship and adjust to aquarium life well and thanks to the efforts of many breeders you can get in an array of colors and patterns. If your lucky maybe even get an anemone to host one.

Midas blenny. The pic isn’t mine (I can’t take a decent pic of mine), it has an awesome temperament, a "sexy" swim and is just gorgeous. Every person that sees him swimming in my reef is immediately captivated. Oh, and they always smile!
