Moderate stocked I would say since many colonies are still small. 400 l of water volume in the system and 25 ml from each bottle of non- diluted ATI essentials PRO 2 part. When I used Aquaforest balling I think it was around 130 ml per bottle per day. The tank is 11 months old in a couple of days.

1. How many milliliters of Calcium and Alkalinity are you dosing per day?

My Calcium reactor is pumping out 36ml/minute all day and I am too lazy to figure out ho much calcium that is.

(50% RODI dilution produced 157ppm dkh Hanna checker) Been stable for months.

1. How many milliliters of Calcium and Alkalinity are you dosing per day?

2. Would you consider your tank to have a heavily, moderately or lightly stocked coral bio-load?

3. What types of corals dominate your reef tank? SPS, LPS, Soft etc?

  1. 25ml carbo calcium and 700ml Kalkwasser (fully saturated)
  2. Moderately heavy as of recent. It was moderate but now as the corals grow it's going to be heavily stocked with corals.
  3. Truly mixed.

I was dosing my 20g nano yesterday and started wondering how many milliliters of Calcium and Alkalinity everyone else was dosing in their reefs. Now I know that the amount these are consumed will vary based on many factors including but not limited to the coral bio-load within the reef system. That being said I thought it would be fun to compare notes so let's talk about it today!

I need you to answer all of these questions.

1. How many milliliters of Calcium and Alkalinity are you dosing per day?

2. Would you consider your tank to have a heavily, moderately or lightly stocked coral bio-load?

3. What types of corals dominate your reef tank? SPS, LPS, Soft etc?

I'm the noob in this mileu and am still getting my world in order for my coral-frags to arrive tomorrow (screenshot below of water-parameters). My tank is 1 month old
  • Volume: 170 Gallons
  • Alk: 7.74 dKH
  • Calc: 374 ppm
  • Mg: 1,308 ppm
  • pH: 7.88
My dosing setup includes three conical flasks (2 litres each), that are periodically stirred using magnetic stirrers, are periodically fed RODI water (From my 22 Gallon ATO reservoir), and have excess solutes than solvents (images below). I use a Jebao 4-head Pump.

My daily dosage is as below:
  1. 3.6 litres of Kalkwasser (approx 1 gallon) - 12 doses of 300 ml each
  2. 200 ml of RODI + Brightwell Aquatics Reef Code A (Calcium/Magnesium) - 4 doses of 50 ml each
  3. 200 ml of RODI + Brightwell Aquatics Reef Code B (Alkalinity/Trace) - 4 doses of 50 ml each.
I suspect that once I hit my target range, by dosing will decrease. But time will tell. Here's my target
  • Alk: 8.5+ dKH
  • Calc: 440+ ppm
  • Mg: 1,300+ ppm
  • pH: 8.2 - 8.3
My tank will be sparingly stocked with 10 frags (7 LPS and 3 SPS) tomorrow.

@Marco A. Martins nano reef is stunning! Always impressed when people do amazing acro-dom in a nano.

I dose 31 ml of each solution daily, for 100G TWV.... which is kinda crazy, I'm on the upper end of stocked. Plenty of SPS, and stays right at K - 8 / CA - 400.

Not sure how helpful volume dosed is, 10ml from one brand might be twice as potent as 10ml from another brand.

My tank consumes about 2° dKH, and about 15 ppm calcium per day with a moderately stocked mixed reef

Right now I dose 43.2ml of dissolved soda ash daily, a few weeks ago I was dosing over 80ml. About 16.8ml calcium chloride solution.

But in reality, the 43.2ml alkalinity supplement I dose now, actually amount to slightly more alkalinity than the >80ml I was dosing before, because amount in ml is only helpful when you also give size of the tank and concentration in the additive, and ask people to do calculations in their head.

Usage in ppm or ° dKH is universal, no matter how big the tank or what the additive is

Wall to wall SPS in a 210g and I only dose super saturated kalk and Red Sea Colors. All top off is done on a 24/7 drip with a chemical dosing pump. I can email or text someone pics if they want to post. I view R2R from a different computer then where I have pictures and don't have email on this old Mac I view from.

ATO is about 2.5 gallons a day.

My tank is a moderately stocked 100G

3. What types of corals dominate your reef tank? SPS, LPS, Soft etc?
I have an even split of SPS and LPS.

My tank is a 40b with a 40b sump/frag tank. I voted moderate corals, but I’m probably moderate to heavy coral load.

for about the past year I was dosing around 65ml brs 2 part. Seems like the growth had stalled out. I started adding the tropic Marin a/k trace and the part c. And my alk levels started dropping, so about 1.5 months later now I’m dosing 90ml.

i really noticed a difference in growth with adding the trace elements, zoas that were already growing fast, are now growing faster. A few of the acros haven’t changed much growth wise, but have better color. Lps is nice and fluffy and growing well.

I'm dosing 400 ml of A.F. Calcium & Alk per day. Currently not dosing Mag since my levels are above 1400. 220 Gallon display with 75 gallon sump, probably 230 (?) total volume.

220 Gallon, I'd say moderate are far as stock, but I do have a few large SPS colonies.

I'd say 80% SPS, 15% LPS and 5% Zoa's. I'd say low/medium on fish, 11 fish total, only two bigger ones (4" Yellow Tang and 5" Naso Tang).

I knew that tank looked familiar. LOL.... What's up brother. You still have room for a bunch more frags. This is a interesting thread don't you think?Given the seemingly endless battle I've been having for the past few months. Things seem to be changing now that I started with the new salt. Never will I use the Red Sea Coral Pro salt again. I should have tested the salt when I mixed it. 6.9 Alk 420 Ca. Seems like the tank has pretty much settled. Fingers crossed. But I'm dosing 42.5 ml of Alk and Ca per day. Holding at what the Regular Red Sea (blue bucket) claims.

I like the points you are making. I've been struggling with how much " ml/day". Come to find out though. I couldn't be more convinced it was the salt I was using.
